DD is not a puppy!

I just called DD's snack a treat.  In my defense i am a technician at a vet clinic, so i'm around dogs all day.  Anyone else do something like this?

Re: DD is not a puppy!

  • When Jay is laying on the floor across the room I will say "Come here. You can do it. Come on. Come here." I feel like I am calling a dog.
  • Loading the player...
  • I feel like when I'm telling him "NO" it could be mistaken for me talking to the dog we don't have. Like when I'm rocking him or nursing him he tries to take my glasses off...and laughs while he's going it. I'm like "NO" (in a sing song voice) then by like the third time I'm like "NO" (in a firm voice).
  • A little boy asked if he could pet DD's head the other day.  I totally let him bc I thought it was hilarious.

    This. haha

We also sometimes say she is "like" a puppy because she chews on everything and drools so much. lol

  • Haha. I have on more than one occasion called one of the girls by the dog's name. Lol. Not so much recently, but in the early, sleep-deprived days I would say something like "Lexi...zoey...Liana...WHOEVER you are!!!". Lol. (Lexi is the dog). I think once I may have even mixed one of the cats names in there. Haha

  • I think the thing I say most often to DH is "She's not a bird" and sometimes "she's not a dog"

DH had a bird from when he was 13 until 6 months ago (20 years). He would whistle at her and when he went to get her from the cage he'd say, "wanna come out?". He whistles at DD the same way and always asks if she wants to come out or tells her he's going to take her out of the car seat/stroller. And tonight she was playing on the floor and he started making those kissing sounds you make to a dog so it will come. Argh!

The problem is, at the time she was up on all fours and was holding a toy in her mouth and making growling noises. ::sigh::

  • We're going to visit my sister soon and I bought a toy for her dog. I was playing with it last night and said to DH "I bet DD would love this, is that bad?" and he replied "well, she kind of is like a dog - she likes to slober and chew on everything".

OMG! This made me remember that when my oldest nephew was a baby my dad got him a toy that he was really excited about - and it was a doggy chew toy!! My sis was SOOOO bothered.

  • This post cracks me up.  I always make weird clicky noises when I am trying to get him to look at the camera, and it sounds like I'm trying to get a dog to come over.  I feel so bad, but it works!
