(NIFVR) Accident at Niagara Falls

I feel awful that this happened but it makes me so angry when people blatantly disregard warnings and fences. Why do you think they're there? Waterfalls = slippery surfaces; whether that's a mossy rock, muddy terrain or a slippery fence.

I've been to Niagara Falls several times and it is absolutely terrifying how close you can get to the falls which is why I stand WAY back. All it takes is one person not paying attention and bumping into you to send you over if you're standing on that fence.

We have a lot of waterfalls here in NC and every year, without fail, someone crosses a fence or barrier to get closer and slips and falls and often winds up losing their life. And most of them are adults and old enough to know better too. Very sad...

    Yikes.  That is my nightmare.  I also stand way way back at Niagra and anything with an edge like that.

    I saw this article yesterday.? DH and I went to Niagara Falls 2 years ago and seriously, there are signs EVERYWHERE!? I stood behind DH while we were looking at the falls and I held on to his jacket ?just in case.?? I can?t imagine how horrifying it must have been for the people who had to witness it? just awful and COMPLETELY AVOIDABLE!
    The same goes for the Grand Canyon.? There are signs EVERYWHERE stating that you need to stand away from the edge and yet we were witness to a man ? who was there with his wife and two small children ? walk out onto a ledge to get a picture of some stupid bird.? I was so scared I started to walk away, but luckily a very angry park ranger came over and yelled at him to get away from the edge unless he wanted to be arrested.
    ? There?s something to be said for Darwinism! ?

    People are so stupid. I have never been there, but I can only imagine how scary it is. I saw somewhere that 18 years ago a woman dropped her baby over the falls on accident! Can you imagine. WTF are people thinking!!

    That's tragic!  We were just there in June- I am afraid of heights so I was lucky if I got close enough to touch the railing.  I saw some stupid people sitting by the railing and leaning over - esp. during the fireworks.  I had to look the other way b/c I was anxious for them.

    it is so sad (but so dumb)..we were just there -- 4 days after it happened.
