Re: ? to ask ped.

  • - What is your opinion on breastfeeding, vaccines, growth charts, circumcision.

    - Where do I call after-hours?

    - Notice whether you seem rushed, take notes on the waiting room, talk to other parents.

  • When we met with the Ped, we asked questions for which we had not yet decided how we wanted to handle.  We wanted her professional opinion, which we would later use to make our decisions.

    Circumcision
    1. How often have you performed them?
    2. Do you do it only on specific days?
    3. Do you do it at the hospital, or at your office?
    4. Complications you've seen from circumcision?
    5. Pros and cons to circumcision.
    6. Recovery time?
    7. Meds needed?
    8. Does it affect breastfeeding?

    Vaccines
    1. Do you have a list of hte Standard Vaccine Schedule?  Of the Alternate Vaccine Schedule?
    2. Complications of either schedule?
    3. Any boosters we (the parents) should get?
    4. If we don't do the Hep B vaccine at the hospital for LO, when will it be done?

    Other
    1. How many doctor appointments should we expect in the first 0-6 months?
    2. Since the office is closed on Sundays, where would we go or who would we call if the baby is sick on a Sunday?
