XP: Stupid ques re: scheduled repeat c/s

If this kid doesn't show up on her own we'll schedule a RCS around or shortly after 41 weeks. My previous c/s wasn't planned so I don't know how this works if it is - do you have to go to your pcp for a pre-op visit/go get bloodwork, etc., like you would prior to other planned surgeries (or at least like I've had to before planned surgeries)?I don't know why this is just occurring to me now.

Re: XP: Stupid ques re: scheduled repeat c/s

  • For a RCS you just show up at the hospital when they tell you.  I got a call the night before my RCS and was told to be at the hospital at 5:30am (fasting before hand).  I got there and filled out paperwork, did the bloodwork thing, and they hooked me up to monitor for the baby.  You answer a crap load of questions and just wait.  My DD was delivered at 8:05 am, so that can give you an idea of the waiting.

With that being said you still have time to go into labor on your own so I'm hoping you won't have to go through with the RCS!  Sending VBAC vibes your way!

  • Sounds like it will depend on your OB.  For me, mine was scheduled and the week of the c/s I had to go in for a pre op visit.  It really wasn't any different than any other week though to tell you the truth.

I was scheduled for preadmission testing the day before surgery.

This for me, too. Preadmission a day or two before. That morning I arrived 2 hours before surgery.

  • A couple weeks before the scheduled c/s at my regular ob appt. he gave me the paperwork to come to the hospital to do.  It had to be done at the hospital lab, not the normal (quest) lab that all other blood work is done at.
