Making prunes

Anyone make prune puree? How did you store it since it doesn't really freeze?

I had a heck of a time getting the cubes out, and then when I put them in the Ziploc bag it looked like they just mushed together - and this was after about 18 hours in the freezer. It was so hard to take the cubes out that I left all of them in one ice tray (but since I only have 2 ice trays I HAVE to get them out!)

TIA

Re: Making prunes

  • I've tried plums, but not prunes.  Did you get them out eventually? Did you run the tray under hot water? I wonder if you need to add more water to your puree?? Not sure.

  • Yeah, I scraped them out with a knife (and now have marks in the tray, oh well). There were bits of the cube still stuck in there too that I scooped out with a spoon and just mushed onto the block I already had. I read on wholesome baby food that they won't really freeze but no advice on how to store them. :( Maybe in the future I'll put these in those little containers until he's ready to eat them instead of in the ice cube tray.
  • The containers are probably a good idea. I hate when I can't get the food out..we have some rubber like trays, and food just seems to stick to it. I thought it would be easier..but its not. Lol.

Have you had any better luck with getting your LO to eat green veggies?

I haven't tried the green ones again. But he hated yellow squash and the past 2 nights I mixed it with sweet potatoes and it was a hit. I might try again with the green but mix it...only thing is I kind of follow wholesomebabyfood too much in that they don't have good options of mixing green beans or zucchini so I'll have to think for myself and choose one!! How about you??

The only thing that seems to work is mixing the green veggies with carrots or sweet potatoes. Lol. Basically, he'll eat anything if its mixed with something he likes.
