As a rather side note, have you considered cord blood banking? Your baby might be a match for you...

    Also, congrats and good luck.

    Yes

And definitely come over to the April board... the ladies are super supportive and Gracie has been welcomed with open arms over there :)

  • I'm sorry you are going through this! I'm a cancer survivor and I can't imagine going through pregnancy and cancer at the same time. I would also talk to your doctor if you plan on keeping this pregnancy because there may some meds they can give you to keep the leukemia in check that aren't harmful to the fetus. I work for a cancer hospital in Boston and I know there are drugs out there that don't cross the placenta but not sure if there are for leukemia. Obviously it depends on how your cancer is behaving. I have known women that got pregnant with cancer (not sure of outcome but it does happen). Best of Luck to you!!

This thread sure didn't go as you thought, did it?

Oh it most definitely did!  I was more interested in your responses to each other than to helenabee.  1st tri never disappoints in the snark department!  Lots of luck to you Helenabee!  Keep your head up!

  • A friend of mine delivered healthy twins while fighting breast cancer.  She's the strongest, most amazing woman I know.  I can't imagine anything so difficult, but difficult isn't impossible!  Good luck, and may God bless you and give you strength as you fight for both you and your baby!

Thanks for wishing me the best :) But yeah no abortion for me. I'd rather die then live knowing I didn't give my baby a chance

I do not know the seriousness of your current diagnosis, but PLEASE beaware that possibly by no longer receiving treatment in order to continue your pregnancy, your baby may not have a chance either. Discuss all options with your doctor, because if you are not strong enough to carrythe child healthy for 9 months, your child and yourself may not be able to survive, or may result in your child suffering. After speaking with your doctor, I know you will make the decision that is right for you.

Good Luck, and I wish you the best as this appears to be a very difficult time for you!

    Also, congrats and good luck.

I work in Cord blood donation and she wouldn't be able to with leukemia. I can't "bank or donate" mine even though I had cancer 8 years ago. If a child ended up with leukemia, lymphoma or another blood disease down the road they would never use that cord for them because it could be genetic from the beginning.

  • 3 weeks from conception is possible...that means 5 weeks pg. I Tested positive at 3 weeks from conception, but technically u r 5 weeks. Take a home test and then I would talk to your leukemia dr to find out next steps with your health. Good luck, and wow u r young to be engaged...different strokes different folks

  • Wow, this is a tough one. First of all, Congrats! You seem like you have your head in the right place (I think) by saying you are not getting an abortion, but at the same time you need to consider your health.. That is seriously a really tough situation. I wish you the best of luck and hopefully you and your doctor can sit down and discuss options that hopefully will give baby a good fighting chance without your health at risk.

As for people who are asking about why she had unprotected sex, I think it's insanely rude to even go there when she simply came here looking for help. I hate that certain people can't post without being penalized. Get over it.

so why'd you have unprotected sex?

Not only is that irrelevant now, it's also none of your business. Why don't you and your inane comments come back when you are actually in the first trimester of a pregnancy.

     Go Salt!

    I second this :) Thanks

That is actually one of the reasons (although not my main one) that I don't want an abortion. Glad someone else thinks its feasible too :)

  • Thanks so much! And congratulations, you give me hope :) My doctor said he'd work on finding me something to replace what I was taking before and I'm sure it won't be long before he figures something out.

You might want to update your chart then because according to your sig you are only 9DPO.

God knows I'm not the most tactful person all the time, but you really need to slow your roll here. This girl has quite enough going on in her life right now without you asking her inappropriate questions about her sex life. Why does it matter to you that she had unprotected sex? It happened and she's pregnant. She doesn't owe you or anyone else an explanation.

OP: I'm sorry that this negativity ended up in your post. I hope everything works out for you.

  • You can be 9 dpo and be pregnant.  Especially since I felt the sperm meet the egg, so I just know.

Yes, I'm kidding (about the sperm & egg part).  I'll try to be more kind in the future, thanks for the notice.

Well aware. Usually people mark +HPTs on their charts when they get them.

Helena: No prob. Enjoy the April board! There are some sweet girls over there. :)

  • Yea it's possible to find out that early. I went to my dr for birth control like a week and a half before my period and they did a pee test saying that I was pregnant then they took a blood test that day that confirmed I was and only about 2 to 3 weeks along So yea it's completely possible. I actually didn't believe it at first since I had only been off BC for 2 weeks but the morning sickness, headaches, and food cravings beg to differ. Good luck and hope I could be of any hep to u.

Thanks that helps a lot! I felt weird being told that I was three weeks pregnant it sounded absurd (not to mention the lowest I see on here is 4 weeks) but it doesn't seem as strange knowing someone else has been there too :)
