Babies on the Brain

How often do you get your wedding ring cleaned/buffed/dipped?

I get it cleaned whenever I can ( I also clean it myself but the jeweler's machine is better). But I get it buffed once a year ( I have platinum, I don't know if they buff gold). After not being able to wear it for so long, I finally able to wear both of them because I have lost the weight I put on during IV's. So they are nice and shiny from when I got them buffed before. So how often do you get yours cleaned, buffed or dipped?

  • About once a year give or take. I'm going to get them sized and soldered together after my fingers de-swell after having the baby.

  • We had mine re-sized recently (god, that's embarrassing to admit) and that was the first time I've actually had it cleaned at the jeweler.  So that would mean once in 8 years.  It really looked amazing when it came back, so I'll probably have them clean it more often.

  • Not often enough, which is probably why I've been having a skin reaction under my rings. DUH. Perhaps I'll get that done this week.

  • I had my own jewelry cleaner but it broke. Now I send them to the jewelry store every 6 months. I love how they look when I get them back!

  • I clean them weekly but they need a dipping bad hard.
  • I used to get it cleaned much more often but found out the more you clean it the more often it needs to be dipped.  I get them cleaned and inspected for the warranty every 6 months and usually have to get it dipped once a year though they are still looking good right now.

  • I get mine cleaned every time I think of it if I'm at the mall or by the jewelry store.  Maybe every 3-6 months.  And I get them re-dipped every time they need it.  I've done it 3 times in the 4 years we have been married. The last jewelers that I had re-dip my set did an awesome job and for some reason I haven't needed it dipped again for a while, so I'm super happy with them!

  • I used to work at a couple jewelry stores. I would recommend you have your ring checked every 6 months and have it cleaned while you are there. As for rhodium dio for white gold, that just depends on you. The reason white gols fades is because of your body chemistry and if you're day to day life. if you use a lot of chemicals like while cleaning house while wearing it or you wash your hands often things like that it will fade faster. A lot of times jewelers will automatically dip the ring after having it soldered to your band.
