I have no clue what is going on with DS. He was so cranky today. He usually has a bm every 5 days or so. (TMI warning) His last bm was a little on the thicker side so instead of giving veggies, I started some fruit. We have been doing peaches for a few days now. I thought this would help loosen things up. Boy was I wrong. He went today and it was too thick still. After he went, he was happy for about 20 minutes and then got his crank on again.
Usually he goes right down for bed without meltdowns. I feed, we play for about 20 minutes, read a book, then put him down awak and he is out within a few minutes. The last couple nights, forget it! Full blown screaming. Nothing really seems to soothe him. I even had to nurse him to sleep the last two nights because DH and I tried everything.
We thought maybe teething? He doesn't take teethers. He will chew on his hands, try to chew on people's fingers, and chew on his bib. He will put everything in his mouth to "taste" it but then spits it out. I'm seriously at my wits end. I just don't know what the problem is. I feel so freakin' helpless and I hate seeing my little man so unhappy!
Re: Mr. Crankypants
I have no idea about what solid would help your little guy. Hopefully someone else will chime in, you could always call the nurses line and ask. DD is going through something similar at night and I think we may have to change her bedtime. Her naps have been getting longer and fewer so by the time she's ready for her next nap later in the day it's almost bedtime. Then she is impossible to get down (I've always nursed to sleep), and she's wiggles and talks...
I would keep trying the teethers every so often but if he's happy chewing on his bib I'd be fine with it. Good luck!
