My son had been sleeping 11 - 11.5 hours a night for quite awhile. In the past when he was teething he would wake up early for 3-4 days max. I think his molars might be bothering him because he constantly has his fingers in the back of his mouth. The early wake-ups have been going on for at least 3 weeks. For the most part he goes down at night without a peep and does not wake up in the middle of the night. I still BF so I try to feed him and get him to go back down. I'm 99% sure he's not waking up because he's hungry. A lot of times he will eat for 2 minutes and then go back to bed. When he goes back down he is awake when I put him in his crib. He will usually cry for 2 minutes and go back to sleep. I am wondering if I should not go in when he wakes up at 5:30am and let him CIO to get him back to his regular sleep schedule. I know they say not to sleep train when they're teething but he seems fine during the day now. Thoughts please.
Re: Has anyone done CIO in the morning?
I came on here to write this post myself. DS goes to bed between 7 and 8pm but for the past month has been waking at 5:30-6a. This would be fine except it's pretty obvious he is still tired and spends a lot of the morning whining until his next nap. I don't really think he is hungry either. He is getting 2 new teeth but this was going on long before that. He falls asleep on his own easily for naps and bedtime so it's not like he has a crutch for falling asleep.
I think we probably need to just set a time and not go in before that time and eventually he will get the idea but it seems like there is never a good time to try it. You can hear everything in our house and when we are getting ready for work I know he can hear us and that just makes him want to stay up even more. Sorry I don't have any real advice but just wanted to let you know you are not alone!
P.S. To those with older kids... if yours did this did they ever learn to sleep in a little? I mean before they were teenagers
What time does she go to bed? Also, do you leave toys in her crib?
I wish! But despite sized-up overnight diapers with a doubler, he's usually awake that early because he's soaking wet. Which means change of clothes & diaper + changing crib sheets. And then by that time he's really wide away & ready to start the day
This is DS exactly
