Two Under 2

double strollers...

I dont get on the bump much now, so please forgive me if this topic has been done to death! lol Im in the market for a tandem double stroller. I know most people prefer the side by side jogger style ones but I think a front back one is more my style.

Im thinking of either the Chicco Cortina or the Graco Quattro Tour.. I will have a 14month old and a newborn so def something that accomodates an infant seat is a must.. Can anyone recommend either one??

Thanks!

Re: double strollers...

  • I haven't used either one, but I would recommend going to Babies R Us, Buy Buy Baby, etc. to test out different doubles with your 14 month old. Walk it around the store, fold it, unfold it - see how it really works for you.

  • We have the graco quattro tour duo and LOVE it. We havent tried other double strollers but we love this one.

  • We don't have it but we played with the Chicco double M at BRU. We hated it!! It was heavy, folding was super hard as was opening it and the front umbrella was in the way and awkwardly positioned when folded. It was nothing like the Chicco single stroller (which we have and love). We are opting for the City Mini instead...

  • I was deciding between the same two and have chosen the graco quattro tour duo for the following reasons:

     - I like how easy it is to fold

     - It has cup holders on the front AND back seat

     - I like the handles that go up so I can hang bags on them (crazy reason, i know)

     - The graco car seats are a tad cheaper than the chicco and neither one takes our existing car seat so we have to buy a new one either way

     - the front seat goes to 50lbs while the chicco is only 40lbs (not that it will even become an issue, but just another plus)

On the other hand - my bff is having twins and she decided on the chicco b/c it steers a little easier with one hand (she will also have a barely 2 year old!)

IMO you can't go wrong with either - it came down to the nitty gritty for us.

    Hope this helps!!

  • We just went to BRU and they did not have many to play with, only 3. We tried out the chicco double and its nice but heavy and the rear seat for toddler is kinda cramped, as well as the graco duoglider and quattro tour along with the fact that we would also have to buy a new car seat to fit. I was dissapointed. If my 15 month old son sits in back seat and baby in car seat in front, my son is so close he can kick her seat at any time which will not work out well. I have been doing alot of research and came accross the contours options tandem stroller on amazon for 178, they also sell it on bru online, but also in some baby stores but the price is marked way up there. I have played with it at another baby store and the options are amazing, the seats can face 6 different positions including facing eachother and the basket is easy to get to with seats in any position, its light weight and takes any popular car seat brand (we have saftey 1st). We are going to play with it again today to be positive this is the one we want because these strollers have to work for at least 3 years. Good luck on your search!!

  • I tested the Chicco, The Contour and Graco.  I wound up settling with the City Select with Doubles it.  I started using it for just my son, and love how easily it moves and folds.  It is a little heavy but no complaints.  I registered at BBB just for the 10% completion coupon to buy the stroller since it is rarely on sale and no coupons work for it otherwise.

  • I have the Options by Kolcraft Tandem and I love it.  It is very sturdy, handles great, and breaks down easily.  I also have the single and was so impressed with the quality that I wanted to stick with the same brand.  We do a lot of walking and it's really nice that you can switch the seats around if the sun starts to beat down on your babies.  Good luck.
