nbr: Where to go for nice birthday dinner?

BF is turning 30yo this week, and I am trying to find a nice restaurant to celebrate. We have tossed around these ideas: Jeff Ruby restaurant- Precinct or South Beach Grill Knotty Pine on the Bayou Ruth Chris steakhouse (Columbus) ... And we are still not sure (BF is completely indecisive now, but if we don't make reservations soon, I am afraid we will not be able to eat until 9pm). Any other ideas?

  • Any jeff ruby's restaurant gets my vote!   Their steak is the best!  We also recently tried Eddie Merlot's and really liked it.  I also love the melting pot.  I've heard good things about Palomino's also.

We did recently go to Eddie Merlot's and it was great. I think we will end up heading to Jeff Ruby's... Just wish there were some other ideas... We have been to Melting Pot but we are not fans. We like Palomino's for happy hour but otherwise, I think their food is subpar for what you pay for IMHO.
  • I'm not a seafood fan, but DH like's mitchell's seafood.  He also keeps mentioning he wants to check out someplace called Jag's.   those are my only other ideas!  I hope you guys have a good time!

Jag's is fantastic!! I have been there about a dozen times, so we are looking to go elsewhere... Impeccable food and service.
  • Orchids at Palm Court

    Boca

    The Palace

    Jean Ro's Bistro

We really like Bouquet in Covington also.

  • We went to Mitchell's for our anniversary dinner this year, and it was fabulous!  If you like seafood, I highly reco them.  That said, any Ruby's restaurant gets my vote, and there are lots of cool places downtown.
  • We just went to Boi Na Braza (not sure if that is the correct spelling) on Friday night and it was very nice and super delicious. It is expensive, but yummy.

  • My favorites are Orchids, Nicola's, and Nada.  Orchids is more formal, Nicola's is more romantic, and Nada is more fun.

  • The Precinct is always a classic. We were not impressed with Boi Na Braza. Some things were good... but a lot of it was not great.
  • Thanks for everyone's feedback... I agree about Boi Na Braza- I did not think it was as amazing as everyone says it is. We have already been to Nada. I did consider Orchid's but I think it would be more my type of restaurant (not his).. Maybe for my birthday lol? We did decide to go to Ruth's Chris in Columbus. BF wants to have my brother included and he lives In Cleveland so it would be a nice halfway point. We used to go to the one in Cleveland as a family for special events, so I know it will be delicious. Thanks for everyone's input!
