Pregnant after IF

Tell me I have nothing to worry about...

Had my 28 week apt today and my OB did an ultrasound to try to get better pictures of things they didn't see very well at my AS which included the heart, brain and spine (kind of the major things!)

He was never even been that concerned after my AS and got great shots of the heart and spine today and said everything was fine but since he still couldn't get the right angle to measure brain/cranial anatomy (since he's head down now) he's having me do another ultrasound with the tech in 3 weeks.

I didn't do the quad screen so I think thats why he wants to make sure he's getting good pictures...

Would you be worried??

Re: Tell me I have nothing to worry about...

  •  When I was pregnant I had to go back a couple of different times to get better images of my babies' hearts. I think it is very common to have to go back due to bad positioning. No reason at all for you to worry (but I realize it is easier said than done)

  • definitely don't be worried - you have a very thorough doctor is all :)

baby a was *very* stubborn and i had to go in for 3 f/u appts to get all of her shots. it was a major PITA but everything was fine, they just need the exact right angles for good pics so they could make sure everything was OK.

  • Don't worry.  The doctors always want to check boxes.  Just because they couldn't see the brain doesn't mean there is anything wrong.  They probably should have scanned you at 22 or 23 weeks.  I bet in 3 weeks your LO will still be head down and you won't get a good picture then either.

  • I'm sure it's fine! I totally understand why it's nerve-wracking but it doesn't sound like you have anything to worry about. It's just a matter of not being able to see the right angles. You just have a thorough dr, like pp said :) I'm sure your little man is perfect.

  • Well, it should be very comforting that he doesn't want to follow up for three weeks. If he was concerned that it was anything other than the baby being in a bad position, he would be referring you for a higher level ultrasound ASAP! So I say it sounds like he isn't concerned, so you shouldn't be either. :)

  • Try not to worry, I think your doctor is just being very thorough, which is awesome!

  • I know it's hard, but you shouldn't be worried.  My little one is very difficult too and likes to be wedged down as far as she can, which makes scanning her hard for the technicians.  And if they were really worried, they wouldn't be waiting 3 weeks for you to come back.  Hang in there, I'm sure your lo is just fine.

  • You have nothing to worry about.  :)  I also didn't do the quad screen, and due to baby's positioning I had to have my anatomy scan done three times!  I wouldn't be worried.  They wouldn't have you wait 3 weeks if they were concerned, they just need to have certain pictures on file.  No worries.  :)
