Hello everybody. I'm a bump newbie (though I had an account on theknot) and I've spent the last couple of weeks reading countless posts and articles on this site, so I figured I'd finally say hello. I just got married last month and my DH and I are already anxious to conceive. I have already gotten so much information from all of your experiences so... thank you all for sharing!
I do have one question about TTC. I have the Clearblue ovulation kit, and I'm wondering: If I use a test stick once a day at the same time each day, will I be able to get a smiley face in time to truly take advantage of ALL of my most fertile time, without missing out on any precious opportunities?
If your answer is no, then should I a) test more than once daily, or b) begin TTC before I even get a smiley face?
Re: new, with an ovulation question
Welcome!. A lot of women here who are trying to conceive chart and use OPKs (ovulation predictor kits). An OPK can tell you when your body is gearing up to ovulate but only charting a shift in your basal body temperature (BBT) or having your progesterone level checked through bloodwork can confirm actual ovulation.
Having said that, if your cycles are regular, chances are good that you're ovulating just fine. Charting can definitely give you a more accurate picture of when your most fertile window will be though and is also a LOT cheaper than the ClearBlue OPKs (pricey little buggers, aren't they?).
Check out the TTGP (trying to get pregnant) board and read the "newbie" link that appears in the green box at the top of the board. GL!

OPKs are just okay in my opinion. They can tell you if you're preparing to ovulate, but can't tell you that you have. Only a rise in temperature can tell you that. And you might miss the positive on the OPK because it only is there for such a brief point-in-time. In my mind, they're great supplements to charting your temps. Look at Fertility Friend and get a BBT.
Definitely try even without the positive OPK.
