Pregnant after IF

Baby registries are a b!tch

I have no idea what I need, and feel slightly overwhelmed by all options, especially when it comes to breastfeeding, bottles, burp cloths, swaddling options, grooming kits, etc.

Any advice on where to get some good tips or registry samples? I have Baby Bargains, but they mainly talk about the big stuff (which I have down, I think). As for my friends, well, they each have their own opinions, so it's getting even more confusing. I am just concerned I am not getting what I need, and getting unecessary stuff instead. I know I have the cute stuff down though:)

Re: Baby registries are a b!tch

  • I thought it was pretty difficult.  At first I registered for the basic equipment and some cheaper things like toys, feeding stuff, towels etc just so people would have a cheaper options.  I've added as I've gone along and been convinced about needing one thing or another.  I don't think you can really "know" until your LO is here. Some babies love swings and hate bouncers and vice versa.  I think you have to try alot of bottles and paci's to see what works so keep your gift receipts and realize there will probably be stuff you get that you don't use.

  • I feel exactly the same way. I have a registry started with nothing on it. I feel too overwhelmed to get started! Good luck!

  • I had a girlfriend who has 2 small children take me.  She led me through the aisles and told me what's good, what sucks, and what she or other friends she knew could lend me.  She basically told me to put as much on the registry as I wanted because they'll send the 10% completion bonus in the end (which is also good with the 20% off coupons they give out, so extra 30% you could get off of big stuff!).  She was super helpful.

  • No sh*t!  Last week I created a registry at BRU and Target and was super overwhelmed and confused!  When it comes to quantities and which brands to choose, I just guessed.  I agree - Baby Bargains was helpful for some stuff but not all...

    Good luck!

  • I have not registered yet but I am confused as well. I do not understand for all the feeding and bottles which to get. I plan on breastfeeding and pumping but I am not sure which pump I should be getting. We plan on registering in a few weeks and I am hoping to figure more out before going.

  • I totally agree! I am lucky that my mom has been an at-home daycare provider for over 30 years, so she was the biggest help a girl could ask for! My advice is to just create your registry and update it over the next few weeks, so it isn't so overwhelming.

  • They are! Even though I didn't register there, I used BRU's sample "basics" registry. Even though it supposedly only listed the basics it wad a ton of stuff. I found it to be a helpful guide though. I think you can print it off their website.

  • A bunch of people on TB recommended this, and it was super helpful-she's great! https://www.lucieslist.com

I also bookmarked a bunch of blog posts people had and sort of used those as a starting point:

  • I think  the hardest part is....it's your choice!

You know the main stuff: Crib, carseat, stoller, bouncer's whatever other "big" things you want right?

Research is all I can tell ya. Find the bottles, BP, binki's, that YOU think are best. Register for EVERYTHING in the store you see that you like and then come home sit down and look through your registry and you can weed out the things you really don't want. Hey if you get it great! If you don't no biggie! The only thing I did not register for was clothes and diapers. People will get you whatever they want to.
