Well, I tried everything I could to turn the baby and he's stubborn. UGH.....
We went on Friday for an ECV, but after 5 PAINFUL tries, the doctor said that he's set in place and isn't moving. I literally have never been in that much pain before. I was shaking uncontrollably and actually yelling in pain. I thought I had a hernia from it b/c there was a protusion on the bottom of my belly (where most of the pain afterwards was), but it went away today. DH actually almost passed out and had to sit down and he's the tough one in our relationship. I can handle pain pretty well since my menstrual cramps are pretty bad, but this was unlike anything I have gone thru. So, I called today to schedule my c-section for next week. I was upset and didn't want to hear that I have to get a c-section, but from those that have had them, they said that they are not bad at all and they would prefer a c-section over a vaginal birth (those that have had both)...it's something I just need to face at this point...I'm still working on the at-home baby spinning methods, but who can be on their hands and knees for 30 mins?!?! I'm also trying the 12 inches of pillows under my butt and lying with my head on the floor...
Re: Unsuccessful Version Attempt..to schedule C-section
I spoke with a chiropractor about the Webster Technique and he told me that they attempt the technique until the end of the 7th month and then after that, they don't attempt it, so this late in pregnancy, I'm SOL...
I'm sorry you got that information. My chiro is still doing webster on me and I'm due next week. I'd call a different chiropractor if you're willing to keep trying to get baby to turn!
Yes, call a different chiropractor... Personally, I'd wait until I went into labor and then would go in for a c-section after a final ultrasound check at the hospital. Sometimes babies wait until labor to flip and who knows if little one will want to come out so soon?
It sucks to have to change your plans to a c-section and it's normal to sort of "mourn" the loss of plans. Fortunately, you are almost at the end now! There's a light at the end of the tunnel!
Pregnancy # 6
4 missed chances
2 loving children
1 on the way
I think we're in this together, Lady Friend....same situation...it sucks, but I have been given a TON of positive reinforcement about having a C-section...there are ladies I work with that are 100% for it and would choose that over vaginal...according to the one I spoke with today (she had vag the first one and CS her last one with twins): less bleeding, don't have to sit on a donut, no painful urination, no hemmroids, no labor pains (unless, of course, you go into labor before your scheduled CS), no guessing (you know when your baby will be here---good for someone who is an organizational freak, like myself), it's a muscle soreness and not a constant crotch soreness, your vag will stay in tact....I have been looking at the bright side of things b/c that's all you can do!!
I've definitely come to terms with it, and I have also heard from a number of friends who had scheduled c/s and were very happy with their experiences. All I care about right now is that he gets here safe and sound -- that's the most important thing!
