I know I've posted this somewhere on thebump before about how small my DD is and she is gaining, but i need ideas for allergy free high calorie foods. I put Earth's Best butter on her food, meat, rice products, avocado and oils...
Any suggestions would be great! She's been to a nutrionist and vitamin levels are ok except she is slightly anemic and they are concerned about her weight.
I mean she is 15 months and 12 month pants are falling down on her
Re: Help me fatten up my baby!
You've been through this too... a little scary right, when you hear about how plump some other babies are and that fat is needed for brain development. ahhh...
Can I ask, what is an NG tube? The nutritionist suggested today a powder we can put in her food, but to wait before we go that route. Not sure why we would wait? She said it's carbohydrates and fat powder.
What are typical meals for your LO? I assumue she has allergies? My DD is allergic to egg, milk, peanut, tree nut and shelfish.
I swear by avocados! they are such a healthy and good will fatten you up (the healthy way) my son eats avocado (guacamole style) every day.. anywhere between half to a full avocado. i swear that is the only reason he doesn't have weight issues.
i also put olive oil and special butter on everything.
Avacados helped tremendously with our weight issues. What kind of "milk" replacement is your LO getting? We added condensed coconut milk to the rice milk for a huge calorie boost (like 500 cal/cup) and also added in a scoop of Vanilla Ellecare when he was at his worst/smallest and not eating much. We would fry his safe hotdogs in the Earth's best butter and put olive oil on everything. We made his oatmeal with the coconut milk instead of water. I bought coconut kefir and mixed it with "naked" brand juice to make smoothies. Read all of your labels for calorie content and always offer the fattiest option. There are lots of ways to add- it just takes a lot of creativity.
Thank you for all of these suggestions! I will read this again with DH this weekend. He's making chilli today for dinner and we will set aside some for DD and then spice ours up. She does like beans and meat so hopefully this will be good!
I will make her oatmeal with milk- good idea! I will also ask my pedi about Doucal. We do use avodcado but, she doesn't like the taste, so I used to hide it in yogurt- the only way she would eat it. I will go back to doing that.
Will keep you posted! Love this board
