Savannah is beautiful and so much fun! What a great place for a little getaway. I live in GA (Atlanta) and have been to Savannah many times. When I was at Georgia Southern we would frequent Savannah.
I recomment staying downtown, by River Street (if you can find a place that's not going to cost an arm and a leg). There are a few hotels that are right off "the strip" that you can get for pretty cheap. They could be walking distance... THey are super easy to drive to or cab it. River Street is a blast. There's cute little shops, bars, restaurants... The cobblestone streets are great. I recommend taking any of the tours. They have historic tours, haunted tours, etc. They have a riverboat cruise, a gambling cruise. I'm not sure what y'all are into, but I have lots of suggestions. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll help you out any way that I can!
Thanks so much, y'all! We are pretty much game for anything. We've found some fun restaurants (I hope!) and I'm not sure where we're staying; DH is surprising me with a few details since the location was actually supposed to be a surprise (I'm a super sleuth LOL).
The dueling piano bar sounds like a great suggestion and DH loves beer so Moon River will be great . Thanks again!
We went 3 years ago, and sadly I can't remember where we ate but it was all delicious. We did one of the trolley tours around town and it was a great way to get oriented and learn some Savannah history. We stayed at the Catherine Ward House B&B- the breakfast was amazing and the home was lovely, but it was a bit of a walk from the main part of town- didn't bother us though. Have a wonderful trip!

100% agreed. Stay near River Street that way you can walk instead of drive or cab it when you hang out at the cool bars around the area. Parking costs an arm & a leg if you aren't willing to be patient and wait for a free spot to open up. Plus there are some really great restaurants in the area. I've been a few times, I used to work traveling around GA and it is an awesome town to just walk around & EAT A LOT OF FOOD!
Loved Savannah. I echo River Street. Super fun. I loved Charleston a little more for the romantic side. Savannah was FUN though. We went a couple of St. Patty's Day's ago.

Savannah is so fun! Def do a ghost tour, it's really interesting to hear the stories and learn how the city was laid out. I second the pralines as well.....TBO inducing (taste bud orgasm)!

Oh I LOVE Savannah! You should do one of the Ghost Tours...cheesy but fun, and they give you a lot of history about the city.
Also, The Moon River Brewing Company has great beer and food...also supposedly very haunted :-D
