I think I've seen several people on here mention that their kids were pee trained before poop trained. This is basically where we are now, but I wanted to see if anyone had any advice.
Background: We did the 3-day potty training "bootcamp" with Brady about 2 weeks after he turned 2. We wanted to see if he was "ready" and so far things have gone great! He now only wears underwear when he is with us (but he still wears pull-ups at daycare - we're working on that) and over the past 3 days that he was with us full time, only had one pee accident (which was right after he pooped so that may be related). He has started to tell us when he has to go pee, but we still also just take him to potty about every 1-1.5 hours to be sure. He pooped in his underwear, though, every time. He has actually pooped on the potty a couple of times when we happened to catch him so I don't think he is afraid to do it, but mainly he tells us he pooped AFTER he does it. We talk to him about how he got Lightning McQueen or Buzz Lightyear or whomever is on his underwear dirty and that it is gross and I think he gets that, but not sure if there is anything else we're supposed to do to help get him to tell us BEFORE he goes poop.
Thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!
Re: Potty Training: Poop Question
Ditto this. Geneva wasn't afraid of the toilet, but would sneak off to poop. If I could catch her squatting (in whatever corner she was hiding in), I'd hustle her to the bathroom as fast as I could. Catching her was key. Awful to say, but just like housebreaking our dogs.
We also did the whole, "Ewwww, that's yucky" bit, but catching Geneva as she was about to do it was the most important thing.
