Ergo Carrier Users - please come in.

Do you use the infant insert with your ergo?  I got the Ergo when DS was 4 months old and we never needed it.  Now that baby #2 is on the way and I plan to carry her in the Ergo, I wasn't sure if this was essential or not.  I've read mixed reviews on amazon.com about it.

    I definitely used it, and still do. I've read some on the AP board that they just swaddled, but that didn't feel supportive enough for me, and my guy was not really small (8lb3oz at birth, now about 13) and actually has a really strong neck. It also made me feel like he was more comfortable when sleeping in it.

    We just got the insert this past weekend, so I have only worn him around the house to try it out.  But he seems happy in it. 

    BFP #1 March 24, 2010; missed m/c May 26, 2010 @ 12w 4d; D&E May 28, 2010

    BFP #2 Oct 20, 2010; My little boy was born on July 5, 2011

    BFP #3 April 30, 2013; Chemical Pg May 5, 2013

    BFP #4 Aug 22, 2013; It's a boy.  Loss discovered at 24 weeks on Jan 15, 2014 (cause CMV virus)

    I used the insert for about 2 months and once DD's head was strong enough I stopped.  Now I just ball up a muslin receiving blanket under her butt.

    The insert felt nice and snug and kept her head supported, but it was quite hot.  There were days when I kept checking her to make sure she didn't overheat.  My back would also hurt anytime I used the insert.  I'm wondering if it's because the baby is carried out further and away from your center of gravity.  I don't think I could have gotten away without  using it for those first 2 months, though.

    we use ours. LO really likes to be swaddled, so she likes it. I feel like shes very secure in it
