Hi Ladies, I thought I'd ask here first...
Found out early July that I most likely have a major hip injury from years of swimming and my hip socket is wearing away. They can't do X-Ray or MRI- but this is my physical therapists guess knowing my history. I'm in so much pain in any position and so far haven't been able to take anything buy Tylenol- which doesn't even start to help. I'm doing PT, which will help long term I hope, but I'm not sure how long I can tollerate the pain since it runs all the way down my leg- like siatic nerve pain. I think my biggest fear is it getting worse as baby grows.
I know they can give some pain meds when pregnant, but my OB isn't very keen on it. Has anyone had anything similar and found relief in something. I'll take the first tri m/s and fatigue over this ANY day!
Re: Anyone had a sports related injury when preg?
I had a lot of knee pain in my first trimester, to the point of limping on some days. Because I am pregnant, I don't know what the issue is (going to get an MRI after I deliver). I had to basically just suck it up- I took Tylenlol a few times but even that made me feel guilty. The only thing that helped me was getting rest and laying off the elliptical.
I wouldn't take pain meds, but that's just me and I didn't have enough pain as you do, I suppose. Can you do alternative treatments like acupuncture?
A training partner of mine was going through this and ended up with an acupuncturist after seeing a chiro and says that's what did it for helping him get better from it.
Chances are it's just from your body realigning itself with/from the PG. With DD I had back pain for years until I visited a PT who also had a chiro background (more importantly than that, experience working with high-end competitive level athletes) and got things back in alignment and have been fine since. Any time I feel things shifting, I go back to my PT techniques and just pop it back in myself now.
That's something else to consider too - work with a PT who is experienced in sports injuries, not just someone who works with Workman's Comp cases all day long. There's a dramatic shift in the mindset that will help you get better faster.
