I think everyone is banned from them, unless they provide a recipe. Or dumb down the name, like my meal plans. I feel like the worst stay at home mom and wife. Check it out:
Sunday: Papa Johns
Monday: Quesadillas...wait for it, with cheese!
Tuesday: Chicken. Probably baked.
Wednesday: Couscous, with peppers. And maybe carrots. Possibly garbanzo beans.
Thursday: Pasta. Spiral if I am feeling funky!
Friday, er, who knows.
*btw, I am joking. Well, this probably is our meal plan, but I am in no way making fun of the incredibly talented women on this board, but rather mocking my oh so lacking in the kitchen abilities. I wish I had the energy/ability to make such yummy sounding meals as everyone else!

Um, ya, Ally would be banned from my post, too, haha!! I just cannot get it together enough to plan that well (nor will my kids touch half the things listed on the good weekly menus, sadly!).
I'm trying to plan right now to go to the store in the morning (with all 3 kids, God help me), and I'm just drawing a BLANK on things I can throw together quickly, I cannot think at all when they are running around like hooligans. I'm trying to get to the point where I can put together my own recipe binder of things WE like (have a lot of cookbooks, but my picky family doesn't eat a lot of it). Damn Pinterest for putting too many projects on my radar!!
I'm so happy to see I am not the only one who looks at the "good" menus and thinks, "Oh sh!t, I suck!" I am so terrible at even planning for the week. And I am trying to hard core diet right now and cannot even think when it comes to dinner. I just want to eat my grilled chicken and broccoli and have everyone else fend for themselves! But then I remember I have a 3 year old and a 10 month old and that doesn't really work.

Ha! If you would have seen the things I actually accomplished meal wise you would not ban me. Seriously, I am wondering if I can pull it off this week. But, it is a challenge, and I do love that.
Btw, I forgot we bought strip steaks at Kroger for a decent price so one of those meals will have to go. Honestly, I have some very easy go to meals that aren't out of a box if anyone is interested (haven't benn blogging for quite a while). I'm trying to write them down, but keep forgetting.

A-MEN!
This is my deal. I'm just so over food by the end of the night that nothing sounds good. But my husband finally said "Hey babe, do you think we could maybe have something other than grilled chicken and steamed asparagus 3 nights a week?" LOL
I really do enjoy cooking and our deal is that if I cook, he cleans the kitchen which is a double win for me. If I put 10% of the effort into picking up/organizing my house that I did into meal planning I'd be much better off.

see, we don't have that deal with the cooking/cleaning up.....right after dinner, bath time starts and so the deal is one of us gives the bath and one of us cleans the kitchen, and since I've been with the kids all day, he can scrub the crazy monkeys and I will scrub the quiet kitchen, even if it is for the THIRD time that day.

I confess that if I am 100% sure I'm cooking dinner that night I don't so much as rinse a cereal bowl during the day. And honestly, one of the biggest motivators to cook is if I walk in my kitchen at 2:00 and don't feel like unloading the dishwasher, loading it, etc. I'll just pull some random meal out of thin air so I don't have clean up duty that night. Really it just makes things easier because my DH pretty much sucks out loud at having the initiative to do what all needs to be done at nighttime. He mostly just thinks it's cool to watch Fox soccer and then give a huff or foot stomp if I 'ask' him to do something. A great example is putting Tess in our bed at 9:00 at night and turning on a 2 and a half hour movie. Brilliant.
I am also a pretty basic meal planner, when I plan, that is. The ladies with the more complicated, yummy meal plans give me something to aspire to though!

We do the dinner race every night. Nico walks in, we eat, we get the kids upstairs. After bedtimes, we clean up the kitchen. I will admit that some nights, Liam is a bit more "stubborn" to fall asleep and I end up in his rocking chair the entire time Nico cleans up. (Some nights, "Liam" takes so long that Nico has time to clean the playroom too.)
But Nico cleaning the kitchen and me cleaning the kitchen are two different things. So if he empties the dishwasher and clears away the dinner dishes, that leaves me to wash the counters and stove and that's it.
I will say though that he doesn't ever have too much of a mess to clean, because I cannot cook if the kitchen is a mess so I have to start with a clean kitchen. And I clean as I go, so he rarely has to do any prep dishes. Just dinner plates and pots and pans. Which I think is why he likes to grill.
Well, honestly it's only because we don't actually eat while Mia is eating. We are late-dinner eaters, so she eats at ~7, then storytime, then bed. After that, we eat.
I know this needs to change (soon!) but I just can't figure out how I'm going to do it work. After picking Mia up, we get home at ~ 6, and DH doesn't get home until 7 or later lately. Ugh.
This is so sad but my "go to" meal lately is sauteed frozen chicken tenderloins, fast rice/pasta dish, and steamed/microwave veggies. And the really sad part is that I'm pretty proud that I can actually cook this meal and everyone will eat it. It is mostly healthy except for the rice a roni parts. But hey, my kid eats it without it being world war 3 ,so whatever.
Bag of frozen chicken tenderloins= BEST.THING.EVER! I don't know why it took me so long to catch on to that.
I put the chicken in a pan on medium with a few tablespoons of chicken broth and whatever spices I throw in, put the lid on and let it go. I turn them every so often. They cook pretty fast and end up very moist with the chicken broth kind of steaming them some. It's better than the chicken nuggets Owen usually eats so I'll take it.
And Ming- We are the same as you. My DH doesn't get home until 6:30 usually so most of the time Owen eats first and then we eat after he is in bed. We do need to change this so I really need to start planning ahead to make something we can all eat at around 7. It's hard to change schedules when you've been doing it for so long.

I hate having to choose between eating with Mia and eating with DH.
