So this past week was pretty much miserable. DD started running a fever, and at first we thought it was a teething fever. When I picked her up from daycare on Tuesday evening she just wasn't herself. That night was awful, she was crying, ran a fever of 102 and was just tough. So we went to the pedi on Wednesday. They had me take her for tests to check for a UTI. Well, ended up that she had one so they had me take her to the hospital to admit her. So we stayed Thursday night and were released Friday morning after her round of antibiotics.
What I can't wrap my head around is how awful DH has been in all of this. He is normally very helpful, but for some reason he was pretty much worthless to me all week. I am kinda pissed at him that I had to end up bringing DD to my parents house last night so they could watch her so I can get a break to just have some time to myself after all of this. Since I picked DD up from daycare on Tuesday I was with her...and caring for her...at the pedi, the bladder cath, and taking her to the hospital. I needed a freaking break and he just sat on his @$$! Pissed me off so much.
So last night after I got home from my parents house, I opened my box of wine (yes, box lol.) and started on a book. I haven't been able to read anything since before DD was born and so glad I got to start it. Also finally painted my nails and toes....I don't think I've done that in 4-5 weeks.
Also tried to crochet some baby legwarmers but I didn't have the patience for that lol.
But it pretty much sucked because I got home and our air conditioner broke. Not good.
Sigh. Hopefully this upcoming week will be much better. Just glad that DD is OK now. Hopefully after my break last night I can be a better mommy to her.
Re: What a week.
That sucks. I'm glad your daughter is better. I'm always afraid that I won't know if my daughter has a bladder infection. How does it work when your baby is admitted? Is there a cot for you? Do you have to be there 24/7?
I love that you had a box of wine. I grew up on boxes of wine. It brings back fond memories of sneaking wine while underage. Its nice that you got a break hopefully this week will be better.
I think I was so upset because he's usually GREAT in medical situations....he cared for his grandmother and mother while they were extremely ill. I think we were both just stressed and dealt with it in our own ways...which didn't help.
Perplexed, you will def know...she ran a really high fever, and was just not herself. Also, her urine started smelling very different. To confirm it, they drew urine from her bladder with a catheter and sent it to the lab...so we knew that's definitely what it was.
My doctor called the hospital and told them to admit her, so I brought her in and they had a room ready. There was a cot and it could hold two tiny people. And we are not tiny lol. I don't know what would have happened if we had to leave at all...she was barely even there 24 hours so once we got to the hospital I didn't leave.
One really neat thing was that since I am a nursing mother I got breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the hospital since she was staying there. I was not expecting that. And this hospital has amazing food!
Things are better with DH and I now...we had some time to cool off and express our anger towards each other. We talked about it all and are OK now. I just hope next time it won't be this way.
And I think I'm going to have to keep a box of wine in the fridge from now on!
