I am wondering if any of you have your LO's on a schedule? How did you do it, and what does it look like?
I stay at home with DS and I am trying to get his eating on a sched to see if that will normalize his nap habits.
Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Re: moms of 8-9mo babies
At 9 months we FINALLY have an eating schedule. He wakes up around 6:30 then has a bottle at 7, 11, 3 and 7. For the longest time when he was younger I tried and tried to get him on a schedule and it failed miserably. But recently I began noticing that he was eating or was hungry at the same times every day. So then I played around with increaing the number of ounces he gets in order to stretch his bottles from 3 hours to 4 hours. 3 consistent solids meals per day also helped us to regulate our schedule.
I'm assuming your LO is born in November? You should head over to the Novembero 2010 board. We have a great group of ladies there!
I wouldn't worry about schedule so much...there is still a 9 month growth spurt (though not as bad as the others) and then teething, and new movements (standing up and walking) always throw things out of whack again.
Generally speaking for the 11 month old. I nurse sometime between 5:30 and 6. She wakes for the day between 6:30 and 7:30 (though today was 8:30 because we were all out late last night). Then she nurses again about an hour after wake up. Then if we go somewhere (usually around 9:30) then she will take a little nap in the car. Eat again around 11. If we stay home she will usually take a nap after the 11am feeding (and not 9:30 in the car). When she wakes up I will nurse her a little bit then she gets a little bit of solids (the older kids and I are usually eating at that time too.) Then she will usually nurse around 4 and sometimes take another nap (but she is slowly dropping this one now). Then we eat dinner around 5:30 or 6pm, baby has a little bit of solids. When she took the 4pm nap she would go to sleep around 9pm, but now that she has dropped it, she gets nursed and goes to sleep at 7pm. (When she stayed awake until 9pm she would nurse at 7pm and 9pm. Now she nurses at 7pm and then sometimes she needs a small nursing session around 10pm.)
We are also trying to still figure things out. What is your typical feeding pattern? How much formula, solids, etc? A is still getting used to solids and we are trying to increase them. Thanks!
I'd say we have more of a flexible routine than a schedule. If we're not going to be home for a nap, then I do my best to time it with a car ride (yeah, yeah, car sleep isn't as good as crib sleep, supposedly, but she seems fine and well-slept in spite of it). In general, I do not nurse her to sleep, but it does happen sometimes. We try to put her to bed drowsy but awake whenever possible.
Wake up around 6, nurses, goes back to sleep.
Up at 8ish, breakfast around 8:30-9 (solids)
10ish-11: nurse/bottle, naps for 45 minutes- 1 hour
12ish: lunch (solids)
2ish: nurse, nap for 1.5-2 hours
5:30-6 ish: dinner (solids)
7:30-8: nurse
8 or 8:30: bedtime
