When you HAVE to get something done w/ screaming baby....

I just cleaned the upstairs. Z was in his johnny jump up and screamed bloody murder the whole time. But I HAD to clean. It's been like 4 weeks. The sinks and mirrors were naaaasty. Plus, when I picked up DH's lamp and clock radio to dust, little dust bunnies were flying everywhere.

What do you do when you need to get something done and LO is NOT cooperative? Do you let them just scream at you? I can't let him crawl around, he will get tangled in the vacuum cord, or dump over the cleaning bucket....

I'm out numbered on a daily basis so yes, I let them yell. It won't kill them. There's other things that need to get done that I can't do with 2 babies mingling around my legs.

I've been spoiled since DH has been home for the last month but he starts a new job soon and will be traveling so DS is going to have to scream while I get stuff done. I'll do what I can during his naps and when he goes to bed but I know there will be times when he just has to wait.

I strap her to my back if I can, or I put her in the PNP turn the TV on and hope for the best.

We do this. The girls are obsessed with Grease 2, so if I put that on I know I'm good for at least 90 minutes of cleaning time. They only watch it during the songs, so the other times they're just happily playing with their toys.

The only thing I can't do with the girls there is vacuum. Katie's terrified of it and just putting her in a different room doesn't work. So DH has to take them on a walk so I can vacuum in peace.

Josie is terrified of the vacuum too. Even the little dustbuster freaks her out. I have to wait until nap time.

I just try to do what I can when she's awake and wait until naptime.

You can try babywearing. Get him playing with something that he really likes first and then start cleaning once he's engaged. Wait to clean until someone else is there who can entertain him. I have one of those baby gates that can connect to itself to make a large playarea, which my daughter really enjoys.

The only thing I would have to do would be cook.

If I'm cooking and the oven is on, then she has to just cry because I don't let her in the kitchen. If I'm using the stovetop only I let her in and she walks around or bangs on her cake pan and spoon.

I seldom let her cry... Just not comfortable with it.

Same. I just leave him in his highchair after breakfast, with a spoon or something and clean the crap out of the kitchen. I also will drag the highchair or jumparoo to the bathroom door if I have to clean it. Basically, I just work around the kid.

I often clean with DD in her carrier. Sometimes she has to sit it out in the pack and play or crib.

I'll wear her. But, if it comes to things like cleaning/cooking....while they HAVE to get done, usually they can wait long enough for DH to be around to help entertain DD.

I get stuff done. Yes she cries. No I don't walk around cooking, dusting and cleaning the bathrooms wearing her. Sometimes, she'll jump in her jumperoo crying, sometimes she'll just follow me around crying. It is what it is. She is a crier.

I either wear him, or put him in his pack n play with toys and Yo Gabba Gabba on... that usually entertains him. If I'm cleaning or cooking in the kitchen, I put him in his highchair with some toys or teething biscuits/mum mums, and he's usually good there too.
