I love my dogs, but...

If they  don't stop waking up Maya I'm gonna lose it!  Their barking doesn't bother her if she's in a deep sleep, but if she just went down it'll wake her.  I don't know how many times this has happened.  Also, Dingo (the little one) likes to smell her head and he tickles her with his wet nose and whiskers.  I had just gotten her to sleep in her boppy on the couch and got up to put in my workout dvd when this happened- grrrr.  I am now dealing with an overtired, fussy baby.

And DH just called to tell me he's on his way home early from golfing so now I have no time to do the dvd (I don't workout to dvds when MH is home b/c our place is too small to get any privacy).  I guess we're walking today instead...

  • Our Pom barks for NO apparent reason and sometimes wakes up DD. SOO annoying. I just posted on Facebook about getting a barking shock collar for her. I totally wouldn't do that though, lol.

  • Your dogs sound like my older two kids... constantly waking up the baby lol

  • I was just complainig about this as well.  I feel bad because before DS came along they were my babies, now I don't have time for them and I feel like the only time they get attention is when I am yelling at them Sad

  • Ugh! My dog and cat are driving me nuts. They startle LO all the time. The cat loves to hunt nipples, pacifiers, and booger suckers! Ugh! I would give him to a good home if anyone asked at this point. I'm losing patience and they aren't getting the love they need. :(

  • Is there any way you could put some baby gates up while your LO sleeps just to avoid the wet nose/wake up issue??

Before LO arrived we built all of our dogs their own "bedrooms" downstairs. They are about 4 feet wide, 5 feet tall, and 7 feet long and they each have off the ground beds and blankets, a water pail attached to the wall and bones to chew on. I knew that with LO taking up more time I didn't want to feel guilty about the dogs being in their crates (which is what we had before whenever we left the house or needed to put them away.) Now when I need them to go somewhere to be out of the way or to be quiet I just put them there and they love it. Often in the house if they are just wandering around with nothing to do they end up hanging out in their 'rooms' by choice. It's so hot here lately and downstairs is much cooler so I'm sure that's part of the reason they like them so much. Is there any way that you could make your dogs their own space (with no windows-so they can't see to bark at stuff.) If it is enjoyable enough that they *want* to be there on their own then you certainly wouldn't feel bad about them spending more time there while you deal with LO.

  • At least I'm not alone.  My place is way too small to be able to seperate the dogs and the baby without basically locking them in my bedroom (*sigh* I'm really hoping to be out of here by next summer).

  • So glad to hear I am not alone here!  We have 2 dogs and I feel like all I do is yell at them!  The older one barks at everything and drives me crazy!  They do not get enough exercise these days and causes more stress!

  • Our dog barks.  A lot.  At everything and nothing.  Wakes Stella up if she's not fully into a deep sleep.  Even worse (at least for me) is when she is nursing.  Startlling a baby while she is nursing is not good for Mommy.
