Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Ask me anything. I'm lonely.

Jimmy will be going to sleep soon and I need a diversion.  My husband is working late and I need something to pass the time.

Re: Ask me anything. I'm lonely.

  • I saw the pic you posted earlier of your 'tornado' room.  I feel like our family room and playroom are like that...I guess the playroom isn't so bad, but the family room is.  It needs to be redone -- carpet and furniture.  It's kind of like a big closet at the moment and I can't stand it.  Whenever we don't know where to put something, that's where it goes.  Ugh.

I'm trying so hard to get rid of stuff, but it's hard.

    Do you feel like that?

  • I'm lonely, too.  MH is working until midnight tonight, and Ba-boo is already in bed.  :(

Some random guy holding a clipboard just rang my doorbell.  I know he saw me in the window, but I didn't answer.  The alarm is already on (and it beeps loudly when turned on....I'm not doing it again at risk of waking the LO), and I din't like answering the door when I'm home along with the kid.  Also, I'm terrible at not buying whatever they're selling!

    So two questions:

    1. Do you answer the door when home alone?  Say in the evening, but it's not dark yet.

    2. How are you are turning down salespeople/donation seekers?  Do you shut them down instantly, or listen for a while but with a firm no, or you have a hard time getting rid of them and feel bad, or almost always give in?

  • I know you weren't asking me, Lelekay, but I had 2 people knock on the door earlier today.  I didn't answer either time because it was just me and dd home.  I'm just not comfortable with opening the door.

  • Glad I'm not the only one!  Safety over rudeness!  :)

  • Exactly!  Haha - I even had the window open and dd was saying "mama" so I'm sure the person heard it.  I was laying on the floor with her and kept saying "shh" and she kept repeating "mama."  Ugh.  Oh well, they went away.

  • Just_peachy....where in PA are you?  I just moved down here from Syracuse and I think I might be around your area.

OH hell yeah!  I'm an OCD/ADD/Clutter bug by nature and it takes every fiber of my being to learn how to organize and keep things tidy.  Having a small house is both a curse and a blessing.  We don't have enough space to store things so we have to be very selective on what we keep.

I just am learning to accept that I won't have my dream space till my kid enters college.

NOPE.  I just don't answer the door.  I hate being rude but it's a comfort and security issue with me.

When my husband is home and we answer the door at times, I always greet with a smile and thank you for your time and effort but we do not have the means at this time to buy what they are selling.  I try to be specific and precise and quick but still friendly because even they are trying to make a buck kwim?

I am in the Bucks County area (about 35-40 minutes outside of Philadelphia).

    How about you?

  • Do you follow philly sports? Ds is such a diehard eagles fan that we considered Donavan for a possible baby name. Thank goodness we didnt. Questions: what girl names did you pick out? What is your favorite chick flick and book?

We are not big on sports.  We are Phillies fans but not die-hard.  For a girl, I was thinking of Serena Louise.

Favorite Chick Flick:  Fried Green Tomatoes or Kill Bill are among my few

Book:  Jane Austen, Anne of Green Gables, Gone with the Wind
