Which Britax is best?

I know that overall britax has the best safety and customer reviews...so, is one better than another? Some are $200 and some are $300+ so now I am just curious as to what makes the cost difference from one model to another.  Is it just extra features or actual safety?

Re: Which Britax is best?

  • The Marathon has a higher weight limit (65lbs) than the Roundabout (40 lbs) but the Roundabout is rated better in consumer reports and did better in their crash tests.  I think people think they will get mor eout of the Marathon but I read that most children are like 8 before they weigh 65 lbs and wouldn't be in a car seat anymore anyway.

    We are getting the boulevard

  • We got the marathon.  I wanted a higher weight limit than the roundabout.

  • Ditto PP about going to the website. ?We have the boulevard because I wanted the extra side impact protection. ?All of our friends have the boulevard too. ?It is expensive and big. ?It might be tight in small cars.

  • We have the Marathon for our big SUV and the Roundabout for our sedan because the Marathon is a tight squeeze in our car when used rear-facing.

We wanted at least one seat with a high weight limit.  For us, it's not about needing a seat that will accommodate a 65lb child, but one that will accommodate a child over 40lbs.  This way, by the time DS outgrows the Roundabout, we may have a second child that can start using it and DS can still use the Marathon and a booster (or whatever).

  • We got a Marathon as a present and bought a Roundabout.  We kept the Marathon because the reviews online said how much people loved it.  And the ratings that brought it down were still "good" and had to do with latches and our cars have the latch system anyway.  We bought the Roundabout because of the better rating (and great reviews, too) .. thinking we'll do a booster when the time comes.  My sister's twins were in their Britax Marathon until age 6 becuase they were within the weight/height limit for so long.

Overall, I found all of the ratings very confusing.  We just split the difference.

My darling daughter just turned 4 years old.
