Cereal, juice, applesauce, sippy cups? Am I the only one wanting these days to drag by slower?
I'm not trying to make him grow up.
I still: nurse him to sleep/rock him to sleep, swaddle him, he's still in our room in the bassinet, I nurse him as frequently as he chooses.
He's only going to be a baby once, and he will grow out of all of those things in his own time. Flame it if you must, but I like to do these things while I still can

Like I said on the other thread, I don't think anyone is criticizing parents for giving juice for legitimate reasons.

My mom has successfully potty-trained more than 30 kids in her lifetime - my bro and I, foster kids, home daycare kids, her nieces and nephews, my bros kids and not one was ECed. Most kids were done around 2years and in a matter of days.
You want her address so you can send Iris up for a weekend?
I'm not against ECed per se, just that it's very possible without it

I don't think that anyone is arguing that ECing is the only way to PL. ECing can just help get kids used to using the toilet from a very early age so that it's not frightening for them. I potty-trained early, but I was absolutely terrified of pooping on the toilet for a while. Most babies and toddlers have the ability to control when they pee/poop; they just have to learn how.

holy cow. did anyone say giving a little juice to relieve constipation is equal to giving juice for fun/because LO will like it? No!
I wish I could get Jack to shits on the toilet. Oh how I wish.
I babysat a boy who was almost 4 and would come up and say "I need to poop, may I please have a diaper?" and would be in hysterics if you said no and just put him on the potty to go. So I would give in and put one on him and he would wander off, do his business, then come back and say "Change me." I don't think Jack is that old, but I always thought if this was articulate enough to say all of that I wish he could master poop in the toilet! It was awful!

Man, so it's not just me?? Ugh. Potty training defeated, over here.
My mom said I was her little shadow and would follow her everywhere, even the bathroom. So I was acquainted with the toilet and wanted to be like mommy and pee in the potty. I was potty trained by 2. I'm not ruling out ECing, but I'm not gonna go running for the toilet each time M farts and makes her face squinch.
P.S. I'm very much considering EC'ing. I've done a shitton of research because my stepmom grew up in Taiwan and it was just how they did it. Don't be surprised if you see me at the mall with my baby hanging over some newspaper lol

Defeated here too, for real. Jack will pee every pee on the toilet but won't poop if his life depends on it. So we are just in pullups now because I was sick of cleaning poop out of underwear.

I am petrified my mom will give him formula or rice cereal. I am truly digging the EBF not-crazy-stinky 3-4x a week poop.
On the other hand I do some things that are probably too advanced for his age. I took him to the park today that's right beside my house and held on to him and let his butt slide down part of the slide and I put him in one of the toddler swings and carefully moved it a little. I put him on the rocking tractor that his grandma gave him and held him and moved it a little. Maybe I am goofy but I think it's fun and harmless.

He will pee on the potty? You are 100 steps in front of us. UGH!
I don't want to knock ECing. I think this is what the girl who played blossom does with her children and I like the allure of it. But, does this only work for SAHMs? I can't imagine having to "train" my baby sitter to pay attention to LO's poop queues and be able to make it to the toilet in time. I guess you just do it when your home? I would just worry that the inconsistency would make it impossible to implement. Wow. Look at those big words I just used!
I wish the days would go by a bit slower, but at the same time I love watching S grow up and learn new things.
On the potty subject, I have helped potty train over 40 children, and IMO It totally depends on the child when they will be trained. Some pick it up easily, some are stubborn and won't do it until they are 3-4 years old.

Can I just say I'm way jealous!? Ben poops at least 4 times a day. I am liking just tossing his cloth diapers in the wash though- I'm not looking forward to scraping poo.

Thanks! I just hate when people think the parents are lazy when their 3 year old is still in diapers. I have met some of the most amazing parents, who have very smart children, but they will NOT pee in the potty. Then one day, the kid will just out of nowhere, decide to pee in the potty and be potty trained.

It is nice ( for the first 5 weeks he pooped 10x a day) but I get sick of MIL, dr and all the others with outdated info or ffing info who tell me he should be pooping daily. This week he pooped 2x on last saturday, once on wednesday and will probably poop again 2x tomorrow.

My husband can't wait for him to get older. I am already crying over the fact that he is already Mr. Independent. He doesn't want to cuddle at all. He either wants to be sitting or standing up.
But he still lets me rock him (sitting up of course) and I still nurse on demand. Plus he is still in his swing in our room so in some ways he is still really little. But he is just growing up so fast and I love/ hate it.

...I don't think this is the point at all. There are plenty of moms who work and EC part-time, and plenty of SAHM who use disposable diapers. If you aren't going to feel guilty about missing PLing progress when you're at work in a couple of years (which you shouldn't), then there's absolutely no reason to feel guilty/defensive about not rushing your baby to the toilet during the day now. No one is trying to make you feel that way; you're putting words into other people's mouths.

Like... anything. I know some people that moved from "the rest of the world that does EC". They are in love with diapers. Turns out overnight ECing = baby pee in bed. Not that I think people here are doing that, but I don't really think the rest of the world is so fabulous.
I am not in a hurry. I waited until the recommended 3 months for the bumbo. I don't want to feed him solids or juice or anything. I kind of think bottles are too much work.
Eff, my brother's two kids who are 2 and 3.5 still both have soothers and I don't really care.
I don't want my baby to grow up any faster than she already is, which makes me sad as it is.
The EC thing is interesting but since my DD poops during eating 99% of the time, I can just imagine trying to feed her a bottle while holding her over the toilet. I'm sure I would drop either the bottle or the baby
