XP...Milk supply

I posted in my birth month as well but I was wondering what everyone did to increase their milk supply if anything at all.

I'm returning back to work full time and need a hefty supply on hand for DH when I'm gone. I just started taking Brewer's Yeast tablets yesterday as I was told it has the same effect as drinking dark beer without actually having to drink it. I currently pump between feedings three times a day but usually only get an ounce to two ounces. Thoughts? DD is 5 weeks btw

this. you may have to add another egg to get them chewy :-)

also - beer and cheesecake. Well, beer with dinner, cheesecake for dessert. Keep those calories up!

  • Tons of water, make sure you're eating and resting, pumping between feedings is a great move....

I drink this herbal tea: Calm Child by Sweet Herb Medicinals

I know the herbalist who owns the company- she's a lactation consultant who runs the breastfeeding support group that I attended for the last 5 months!  I was drinking this tea because of its helpfulness with a colicky baby (chamomile and spearmint- hence the "calm child" name), but it also has fennel seed, which is very helpful in milk production.  I recently noticed a dip in my supply, and as soon as I started drinking the tea again, my supply immediately increased!  I would encourage you to email Bridget (address on her site) with any questions you have about increasing your supply- in addition to offering you product recommendations, she's an incredible resource.

For those who are local to Campbell, her herbal products are available at Tiny Tots, too.

  • I took fenugreek and domperidone (which is prescribed and available here in NZ).  I have heard great things about both of these, but unfortunately they did not work for me.
