Thank you for replying. I was asked a lot where i would be delivering and the other person would make a weird face and go "oh.." like it was a bad place.

I think that people in this area assume that most women deliver at Magee because they specialize in women and babies, so I wouldn't put too much weight on others' reactions.
I delivered at West Penn and was, overall, happy. The majority of the hospital staff was awesome. The lactation consultants were amazing and I had a great recovery considering that I had an unplanned c-section. I would deliver there again without reservations.
i agree with the poster who said people just expect that you'll deliver at magee. Also, because some other services were taken out of West Penn earlier this year, a lot of people assume that it's closed, which it obviously isn't.
I had both of my kids at West Penn-- two very different situations. one typical birth and one emergency c-section and had a great experience both times. the L/D nurses are great. I also worked at West Penn for many years and find the staff there to be very helpful overall. Good luck!
I had an excellent experience at West Penn. I was in the labor and delivery floor there on bed rest for about 2 weeks before I delivered. The NICU there is great as well (although hopefully you will not need it!)
