Babies: 9 - 12 Months

for babies who are walking

my guys are getting close to walking, taking a few steps here and there.  We use sleep sacks at naps and at night and I'm thinking they aren't going to be happy with those once they can walk.  Anyone have a baby who walks but is still using a sleep sack for bedtime?  I need to buy the next size up but now I'm thinking maybe it's just time to move on.

  • C has always only slept in his diapey but then this is Texas and no sleep sack was needed. I thought I read that they make sleep sacks with holes for the feet to go out of in a post yesterday. C does not walk around in his crib though because he gets wobbly on the mattress, so he only stands up at the crib bars usually while still holding on to them.

  • hmm, yeah I saw those and thought...at that point, why not just wear pj's?  We do diapers under the sleep sacks.  Kinda warm here in the desert too. :)  Sigh.  just hate to buy more crap I end up not using.

My older son wore a sleep sack until he was about 2 and moved into a toddler bed because he would kick off blankets. He could still stand up in it, so it wasn't a big deal. Once he was in a bed with a top sheet and comforter, it was easier to kind of tuck him in and we ditched the sleep sack.

  • My baby has been sleeping diaper only for the past week. Embarrassed and she LOVES it!
  • I'd say it's time to move on. DD doesn't use sleep sacks any more at all... honestly I think it's a bit of a safety hazard since it will trip them.

  • DD still uses her sleep sack at night. I take it off right when she gets up in the morning, so it is not a problem. She doesn't really walk around in her crib, and when she pulls up it is not a problem. I love our A&A sleep sacks!

  • My LO is almost 18mo, and still sleeps in a sleepsack.  He used the Halo ones with foot holes, called early walkers.  I love that it gives him that extra layer that he can't roll away from, but he can still very easily walk in.  Not that he does much walking in it anyhow, but it does give him a bit more freedom to easily move his legs when sleeping and standing.
