I had my baby almost 2 weeks ago and want to know if it's ok for me to do low impact exercises before my 6 week check up. I was very active before and during my pregnancy. Can I do Yoga, walk, anything?
I was walking about 3-4 miles a day 2 wks pp. By 6 wks, I was full blown running 5-6 miles a day. I think it is fine, just listen to your body like pp said.
I had a 3rd degree tear and did too much too soon. Take it easy and like others said, listen to your body. My MW said to take cues from my bleeding, but I only bled for 7 days.

Pretty much this.
With my first I was walking every day immediately. I started running 3 weeks after he was born. I had a small tear with 1 stitch.
With my second I didn't tear at all and was ready to start running while I was in the hospital. But I started running a week after he was born and I was walking as soon as I came home from the hospital.
I think it depends on a few things, how you feel, how often you exercised before and while you were pregnant, what type of exercising you plan on starting after pregnancy. It also depends on your delivery too.
Hope that helps

Certainly walking should be fine, perhaps not 5 miles. I had a c-sec and am just finally now able to walk for some distance without pain either during or after the walk. If you had a c-sec, you might want to wait a little longer than the 2 weeks. I don't think I'll do yoga again until I have the ok from the doc. I'm not sure what a downward dog might due to any internal healing that might be taking place.

I had a pretty easy vaginal birth w/ a 2nd degree tear. I was walking around the neighborhood after 1 week and walking 3 miles at a time at 2 weeks pp. This week I started high impact exercise videos (5 weeks pp). My 6w check up is next week.

Re: Exercising after pregnancy
If you feel up to it, of course!
I started walking after 2 days, elliptical at 2 weeks, group fitness classes at 3 weeks and running at 4 1/2 weeks.
Listening to your body is key.
