So far the only obvious pregnancy symptoms I have are the sore breasts (and wow, they have been sore!) and bloating. I've had PMS bloating at times, but this is much worse. It's fluctuated a bit but since I found out I was pregnant, most days I'm not even close to being able to button my pants! All the others (queasiness here and there etc) haven't been as pronounced and if I didn't know I was pregnant, I probably wouldn't even be noticing them. I am guessing that I will not be so gleeful about hints of pregnancy m/s in a few weeks.![]()
I did read somewhere though that headaches can be a symptom in early pregnancy, and last night I had the worst headache I have ever had. I've never had migraines, but I imagine this is what they are like. I was extremely sensitive to sound and light and could really only just lay in my bed in the dark until I fell asleep.
My midwife said Tylenol was acceptable to take as a pain reliever, but I don't even own any because in the past acataminophen has never done much for me. I will probably get some now though just in case. Anyone else having "pregnancy" headaches? Even if they are just headaches while pregnant but you like to think of them as pregnancy symptoms since you're still so excited to be pregnant???
Re: Holy Headache!
I normally get migraines so I can't really say if it's a common pregnancy symptom, although I did get two the first week I knew I was pregnant. (This makes total sense since I know quite a few of mine are triggered by hormones.)
I'm trying to stay away from my medication unless I have a monster migraine, but my OB nurse told me to drink 1/2 coke with a tylenol for bad headaches. The caffeine helps the tylenol work. HTH.
I've always gotten migraines, so when I went in to my first OB appt, I was sure to ask her if the medicine I typically use was still ok.
I usually take 1-2 Excedrin Migraine pills and drink a can of coke. She that was perfectly ok. Obviously the pills and the coke contain caffeine (which is a big part of what cures a migraine) but she said the amount was ok since its not something I do routinely or often.
Even with two pills (at 65 mg of caffeine each) and one can of coke (at 38 mg of caffeine for the whole can), its still less than the 200mg we are all supposed to stay under. No problem at all for baby.
