Help me add to the list I am leaving while we are in the hospital

I am typing up a list of helpful info for my mom since she is staying with Eliza while I am in the hospital. She knows her pretty well, but has never stayed overnight with her or spent an entire day from start to finish before so I included details of routines, favorite shows and channels, activity ideas, meal/snack ideas, bedtime/naptime info, pedi info, poison control, etc...

Any other major things I am missing? I know she plans on winging it for the most part, but I am a little anal, hence, the list!

  • Along with telephone numberes for the pedi and etc., I included adresses to certain places (pedi, Childrens' hospital, etc.) so that they could be punched in to GPS if need be.

Oh, also,I'm beyond anal ;) and laid out certain outfits that I really liked for DS to wear when he came to visit at the hospital because I knew we'd be taking pictures ;)

  • The only other thing that I left details of for my mom was what I wanted him to wear to come meet his little brother in the hospital.

  • Does your mom know how to work your TV/DVD? I know that's the one thing my MIL requested, was detailed instructions on how to work that. Also, dosing information for Tylenol/Motrin. My DD is actually going to have to go to someone locally based on availability while we wait for my in-laws to get down here (it's about a 7hr drive), so I typed up a letter to include in her bag that's really simple and basic so anyone who has her will know what she needs. If you want to take a look at what I have, PM me your email address and I can send it over to you.

  • Did you say that E has never stayed overnight with your mom?  Has your mom put her to bed before without you and S there?  I'm just wondering if maybe you should do a dry run before you go into the hospital so E is not caught off guard and your mom knows what to expect.

I am SO nervous about this. I am going to devote a whole post to it soon. My mom has babysat many nights and knows the bedtime routine, but has never successfully put her to bed. We always come home to an awake baby snuggling on the couch. E gets upset, my mom can't bear to have her cry and takes her downstairs. I have NO idea what she is going to do. Crying

  • Well, I'm super safety paranoid so in addition to pedi's # I included the # for poison control and sent her youtube videos to refresh her knowledge of infant/toddler CPR/choking prevention. And then I had a full page of safety precautions that seem obvious to me and DH but may not to her (if you cook, use back burners so he can't reach pot, don't carry him near loft/balcony, always stay one step below him if he's going up/down stairs, etc.).

Non-safety wise, other than what you have, I included a "key" of some things he says a lot that she might not understand so she knew what he was asking for. You could do the same and maybe include some of E's signs if your mom doesn't know them?

Hmm, I actually don't think so...I'm not searchable, either, but if you're still on the gtg group, I'm in there (I'm the only Shannon).

Does your mom have a crib at her house or will E sleep in a pack n play?  Would she be excited about having a special sleepover at grandmas?  What about having her try and sleep over there one night, maybe even this weekend, and see how it goes and, if it goes OK, then she could do that the night you are in the hospital, like a special treat.  Run her ragged the day you try it so she falls asleep more easily.

I know it all depends on her.  Alana sleeps great by my parents, no problems at all.  But, I tried to put her down for a nap by my MIL and she completely wigged out, like she was terrified of something.

Or, hope you have the baby early in the day so S can come home and put her to bed!  ;-)

  • I am making a PACKET. Don't feel bad! :-)
