Amoxicillin ? (A little TMI, sorry)

This is the first time DD has taken amoxi, and I am allergic so I have no idea! Is it normal to get explosive poop while on it? Its not full blown diarrhea, but its really soft and there is SO MUCH of it! Sorry, I know TMI, but ugh its so nasty!

  • Yes that happens to some

  • yep, it can cause dieherra or really loose stools
  • IT can happen but it's also killing off all the bacteria both good and bad in the gut so it's not hanging around in there as much as it should be.  I always take a bunch of probotics or eat yogurt if I'm on ABT's
  • When DD was on it, pedi told me that was normal and to get some yogurt with live cultures in it to help her stomach and stools.

ps - I'm highly allergic to it too.  Were you scared to give it to your LO?

  • It's normal. Jack is allergic as well. Unfortunately most of his antibiotics cause the same thing.

Yes! I was terrified to give it to DD. The doctor assured me that my being allergic didn't make her more likely to be allergic, especially since my DH is not.

That's what pedi told me too!  Although, I admit to giving it to her while holding the phone ready to call 911.  That's how bad my allergy is to it and I usually don't overreact to things, but I was honestly petrified to give it to her.
