Hey all! Sorry I've been MIA lately but we're still at the beach for one more day. My Dr. said to stay away from shell-fish and high mercury fish, but I'm not sure where calamari falls.
Have you eaten calamari while pregnant? Has your dr made any suggestions about eating it? Thanks! I hope everyone has had a great week!
We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And HOPE does not dissappoint.

Re: Is calamari safe to eat?
Well - since I had it as an appetizer last night, I hope its OK.
Actually, i've been following this guide. I only tend to eat shrimp/calamari 1 or 2 a month, but I've definitely eaten it while pregnant. I have stayed away from tuna (which is my all time favorite!)

Yep, I've had calamari and been just fine. Of course, I've also eaten tuna, sushi, lunch meat, and hot dogs.....
My doctor is more of the mindset that with tuna and stuff like that, moderation is the key. I have avoided the albacore white tuna (which is my fav) because it is higher in mercury than the chunk light tuna. But I have made tuna sandwiches a couple times during the pregnancy with the chunk light. With the sushi and stuff like that - as long as you are having it from a reputable place where you have had it before and been fine, you should be fine even in pregnancy. I haven't gone crazy and eaten a ton, but have had a couple spicy tuna rolls, along with some other types of sushi (cooked and raw).
