I've never tried anal, but thinking of experimenting. Doc put me on pelvic rest due to low lying placenta. I'm kinda freaking out about that. And looking for OTHER ways to satisfy my/my husband's sexual needs.

I would think that since the anus and the pelvic area are so close that it would probably be a no no as well... Just a thought. Also, I am not sure, but I don't think it would be good for you to orgasm while on pelvic rest either, but I am not a Doc... Oral is fun though...

I've been on pelvic rest before, and unfortunately, anal counts. Yes, I asked my doctor. As straight faced as possible.

This made me LOL. I totally understand cause I was just found to have partial placenta previa and I had my Dr. appt this morning. He said steer clear of intercourse, and this was my face Indifferent

haha...then he said "let me rephrase that.." and said avoid the cervix and take it easy. I would think that because everything is so close down there that it may be too much of a risk to do that. My doc specifically said intercourse, he didn't say no orgasm (although I didn't ask). I would stick to...gentle oral?

I wouldn't have your DH go knocking on your back door any time soon. I would think any type of sexual stimulation down there is off limits. I know it sucks, but it'll be worth it!

Without sounding snarky...your anus/rectum are in your pelvis and it counts as part of the pelvic rest. Any action down there can cause issues. So...go back to the middle or high school days and have fun with oral or manually stimulation!

not to be a party pooper, but i am also on pelvic rest and my doctor said the reason is that if you orgasm, you may have cramping and even contraction-like sensations that could cause problems. so whether it's oral, manual, anal, or vaginal, any kind of sexual activity for *you* is off limits. of course you can do whatever you like for your DH, so long as there is no penetration for you and no orgasm for you. kind of a bummer, it's true.

Pelvic rest, when I asked my doctor, meant NO orgasms or sexual stimulation for me whatsoever. Thankfully, my pelvic rest lasted all of two weeks.

I know, and this actually happened to me about a week ago! There was no aftermath (i.e. bleeding or spotting) so I assumed it was okay, but obviously any orgasms that are avoidable I am supposed to avoid. Sigh.

When my sis was on pelvic rest, they told her to not even O herself, in any, way , shape or form. Do, I would Definitely think anal is out the door. But call your doc and ask specifically.

Call your Dr and clarify exactly that what want in regards to pelvic rest.

It seems several of you were told no orgasm. I was on pelvic rest for a few months with DD1 and it was simply no penetration. I was allowed oral, I was allowed to use a vibrator (just no insertion) and my Dr said it was fine; and FWIW, my low lying placenta moved on its own--even with me having a few orgams while on pelvic rest.
