My DS is almost 3 years old (november) and is currently in a toddler bed that is converted from crib. He moved about a year ago and has done amazing with the transition. My dh and I were discussing when is the right time to move him to the full size bed that his crib converts too. My ds is tiny so he is in no way outgrowing his toddler bed. He is content in the toddler bed, but I also feel confident he would do well in the full size bed. The size is what I reallly worry about and the height of the bed. Just looking for thoughts or advice. Thanks
Re: When to move from Toddler to Full Size Bed???
My DD is much younger, only 22 months, and still in a crib. She's quite tiny for her age (3-5th percentile) and doesn't climb out.
However, we are planning on moving her to a twin bed (skipping the toddler bed) when she turns 2 in October. We are using a bed frame but no boxspring, so it's only like 17 inches off the ground and is easy for her to get on to.
That's my recommendation. When you think your DS can get on the bed, then he can go to the full bed.

Must be a Peyton thing!!!
DD is 26mos. and we had the crib rail down for like 3 wks now...(so it's kind of like a day bed..) and we are moving her to a full size bed (tomorrow actually!!!)...
if the child still fits- there is no reason to switch... but if you are about to redo the room or something- at 3y/o you can certainly have him be in a regular bed.
we switched DS1 when he turned 4, because we changed his room decos from his "baby room" to a "big boy room" so we got new bedding, etc- for a twin sized bed.
DD turned 3 in July, and we are waiting for her new twin size bed to arrive (no box spring). We just re-did our spare bedroom & she is moving in there because DD#2 is coming in November. If we weren't expecting #2, we'd probably leave her in the toddler bed for a while longer but we need to change it back to a crib!
We have a bed rail we bought for trips & grandma's house, etc. that we will put on her new bed. The other side of the bed will be against the wall.
