We have a birthday party to go to tomorrow and I need to a present. I can buy the hell out of some trucks but girls I'm not so sure of. Also, she has a baby brother so I'm sure not having too many small pieces would be appreciated. Any ideas?
Ditto. DDs are a little older, but they are starting to get into Amelia Bedelia (the newer ones when she's young...haven't tried the old ones yet), Clifford, Arthur, even Barenstein Bears. These are great books because even though they don't really tolerate me really reading them at the moment, we do abbreviated version based on the pictures and we'll eventually grow into reading the entire story. The Mo Willems Pigeon books are awesome too as is anything by Richard Scarry.

Elizabeth started getting into Angelina Ballerina around her second birthday, so I'd recommend those books as well. The Toot and Puddle books by Holly Hobbie are also really popular in our house.

Re: 2 year old girl present?
Also highly recommend the princess dolls. The princess Barbie ballerina dolls are a huge hit in our house and I believe Target has them on sale.
We love books too--anything about ballerinas, princesses, or animals.
Another option would be a pillow pet. Aerin is obsessed with getting a bunny pillow pet (#1 on her wish list)
I have bought the Meowsic Piano for a two year old and she loved it.
