Anyone choose between Britax Marathon and Boulevard?

I'm debating which one to get, and the only difference between them is the extra side impact head protection on the Boulevard.

If you have one or the other, did you consider another model? Do you think the extra side impact cushioning is worth it? (We do have side curtain airbags in the vehicle this seat would be in, but because of size, we always have to put rear facing seats on the passenger side of the car....)

  • we got the Marathon b/c it was on sale on Albeebaby.com

  • I got the Marathon because we have side curtain airbags in our cars.
  • When we bought DD's convertible seat last year, we picked the Boulevard over the Marathon because it had a better shoulder harness adjustment and I liked the head protection so that DD would have something to lean against if she fell asleep.  But in the current models, it looks like the Marathon has the same shoulder harness adjustment and it curves around at the head enough that it might be a good enough headrest.  I don't think the extra side impact cushioning makes the Blvd necessarily a better choice in and of itself.  Since they're so much the same now, I'd go with whichever you can get for a better price, esp. with a site like albeebaby.

  • we went with the marathon & really like it.
  • we got the Marathon, but I actually haven't liked it very much. maybe we just got a dud, but I find it really hard to tighten the straps. we've been using it for almost 2 years now and I really want to replace it. At first I thought that it was just a pain because of it being rear-facing, but now that we have turned him around, it's still hard.

  • We have both actually and I like the Marathon better.  The extra wings I just find annoying and feel they get in the way.
  • we have the boulevard (good price on albeebaby) and when it was rear facing it made it impossible to have someone in the passenger seat and now that is it the other way it pretty much takes up the whole backseat. I know it has great rating I just wonder if another carseat would have been better. Oh, and DD does not like it at all.

  • We chose the Marathon because it's a little smaller and less bulky. We have small cars.

  • We have one of each.  I personally like the Boulevard better because I feel like DS is better protected with the side thingys, but DS definitely prefers the Marathon because he doesn't have these giant things blocking his vision.  That being said, now that he's forward facing, it doesn't seem to bother him.  I have heard though, that as they get older, the Marathon doesn't offer as much...ahem, crotch space for the gentlemen but that hasn't been an issue yet.

  • We have one Marathon in each of our cars and really like it, but I have nothing to compare it to...

  • we have the Boulevard mainly because of side-impact head protection.  It is a really cushy ride.  DS likes it, but we also got a great deal since it was the previous years' model (just different color).  I don't have experience with Marathon but my friends really like theirs.  I think you'd be fine either way.  Our Boulevard sale price was same as Marathon retail price so we said why not get the superior seat?
