eye watering

DS's right eye waters way more than the left eye and he always has gunk in it! There's never gunk in the left eye. It doesn't look like an infection. Just wondering if any of your LO's have this too? Maybe an overactive tear duct? I already sent an   e-mail to the pedi, just wanted to get your thoughts too! Thanks

Re: eye watering

  • This is what my LO had and I took her to the pedi on tues and she had to give us drops for her eye due to an eye duct infection. Good Luck

  • Sounds like a clogged tear duct. They usually clear on their own, but sometimes need surgery. My DS had this and it cleared just before he turned 1. I thought my DD had this, but turned out she had an infection. One morning she woke up with her eye swollen shut. It cleared with oral antibiotics. Hopefully your LO's eye will clear up!

  • I actually just noticed today with DS. I am going to bring up to the pediatrician at our appointment Tuesday

  • DD had that too and still does every once in a while.  I asked my SIL and she said breastmilk.  It has natural antibiotics and all the natural stuff.  Actually worked!  I tried to do it every pumping session so it was fresh, but 2x a day worked well for us since I am very forgetful.  This kept coming back though with gunk in it and the milk wasn't enough so I called the Pedi and he sent us drops that have cleared up the bulk of it, every once in a while she still gets gunky and watery, but we just clean with warm washcloth to make her comfortable and it clears up for some days.

  • i took DD to the pedi yesterday and she was diagnosed with bacterial conjuctivitis in her left eye :(  it started out watery and 3 hours later i noticed a pale yellow goop.  by morning, her eye was crusty.  she acted fine, smiling and being her happy self.  i took her anyways because it was just gross.  now i have to treat her with erythromycin ointment 3 x's a day for 5-7 days.  ugh!  poor thing.  i'm hoping DH and i don't get it since it's highly contagious.  call me crazy but i've been dropping BM in both of my eyes as a preventative.  LOL.  it's just that my eyes have been itchy since last night....probably all mental.  ha.
