Trying to Get Pregnant

Oh TLC and your baby shows.

Watching "Babies Behind Bars" - it will never cease to amaze me that a crack/meth/heroin user can get KU 8 times and so many of us are struggling for number 1.

Very disturbing show.

Anyone else hooked on TLC's baby shows?

  • Yes.. Baby Story used to be my fave back in the day.

  • Ugh. Your description of the show alone makes me feel depressed. I do like watching a Baby Story...is that show even on anymore?

I have always, always cried when they give birth on those shows. I was on bedrest before I had my son and watched them constantly, same with after I gave birth and was on maternity leave. I can't watch them anymore, they turn me into a sobbing ball of goo.

    Me too.  It's ridiculous.

  • I'm not hooked on the baby shows, but I couldn't help but mention this (see below) article regarding the TLC show My Strange Addiction:

    https://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/08/08/my-strange-addiction-woman-eats-husband_n_921719.html

Can you imagine?! A) This makes me ill and B) the Huffington Post article title cracks me up.

  • I just turned this show (baby behind bars) on now because of your post. I'm disturbed....how do these people get KU??? They should all be spayed. Sorry it makes me a little bitter.
  • I love watching A Baby Story and Baby's First Day.  I saw that Babies Behind Bars was on and was tempted to watch it.  I've seen the show once before and it made me mad, especially the crazy lady who had tons of kids by all different dads and who were all in foster care/adopted.

    Very disturbing show.

I can't watch shows like this, I get hopping mad.  I feel like, in order to adopt a child you have to go through all these screenings and interviews to make sure you're fit, but any crack whore can squeeze out 8 kids and let society deal with it.

ITA.  Pisses me the fvck off.

I'm probably getting flamed for that, but thats just how I feel.

ETA: can I say "whore" or do I have to say "wh*re" or something?  I'm not sure the rule on this; I'll edit is need be.

    I agree 100%.

  • Ive never been big on the baby shows.. Ive only recently been bitten by the baby bug.. and I don't think I will watch babies behind bars, as it sounds infuriating. I like I didn't know I was pregnant..the reenactments sort of crack me up

  • I used to watch A Baby Story when I wasn't TTC, but now I just cringe when I see it on the channel guide!

Oh man - did you see the one where the lady had a baby in her pants?  It was unreal.  She was in full labor, thought she was dying, and then when she got to the hospital they put her on the table and the baby just slid out of her.

"I literally gave birth in my pants."

Luckily the baby was healthy - I think they must only choose good outcomes for the show.

  • Yeah I think so.. I also like the one where the girl had the baby while they were camping, in the campground bathroom. I always love the dudes reactions.. O.O

    Those are the best
