January 2012 Moms

Back from A/S and

we are still Team Green!!!!  but looks like the tech may of given a hint away.  After she was done looking at the pelvic area, I went to the bathroom and when I came back she continued.  The baby's arm and thumb was up and I'm almost 100% sure she said "his thumb" is up.  My feeling has always been that this baby is a boy but I feel like she just gave it away today.  I do have to go back in 2 weeks because she was not able to get good pictures of the heart.

Re: Back from A/S and

  • a lot of techs I know personally will always use the "he" when talking about a team green baby, just so they don't accidently slip and have to hide the answer.  So maybe she/he was just doing that?

  • Glad everything looks good! I think they just throw around pronouns and it doesn't necessarily mean anything.

  • I think it's somewhat common for a dr/person to just use "he" or "she" all the time rather than constantly saying "they" or "he or she". I know my mom keeps saying "when he is born", and we have no idea what it is yet!

  • Same thing happened to me!

I heard "he" and "him" twice in the hour I was there. The tech also didn't get good picutres of the spine or kidneys so I go back in 2 weeks.

  • I think they use masculine pronouns for team green babies or until the part of the scan where they reveal team for those finding out.  The tech with DD's scan referred to her as he/him until she got a good shot and let us know baby was a she!

  • My friend is also team green and her tech told her before she even looked at the baby that by default she'd refer to it as "he" so as not to give anything away and not to read anything into it... but they're hoping for a boy, so of course they still are hoping it meant something! :)

  • My SIL was team green and the tech at her ultrasound said "there's his leg bones". She caught it, my brother didn't. So she had a hunch the whole time that it was a boy and she did have a beautiful baby boy. I know one girl who was team green and her tech told her before she even started that for safety sake, she's referring to it as "he" so there is no accidental slip... its hard to say but it may be a hint! I'm hoping for a hint like that at my a/s on wednesday. Although I am set on being team green, it'd be nice to have a "hint" thats subtle enough not to have given it away but also gives me an idea :)

There's a part of me that would not be upset if the tech slips up, too. :) We go a week from today and if nothing else I can't wait to just get a glimpse of this little peanut!

  • I agree with everyone else, the tech was probably just using "he" so they didn't have to refer to your baby as "it".

  • Thanks girls! I'll have to wait until January to find out if that was a hint or not.
