Parenting after a Loss

Those who are PG and on Meds for Heartburn/Indigestion

So first my Dr told me to try going without my meds.  That is not going so well!!  Absolutely horrible actually!!!  Then at my appt the other day, he told me after I'm out of the first tri I can go back on them!  Well, I still have about 3 more weeks or so to go.  I just don't think I can do it!  Last night I actually woke up choking on the acid that came up!!!  UGH!!!  I hate it!!!  So what is the big deal about not taking the meds during 1st tri?  Do any of you take anything in the first tri?  Do you think it would make much of a difference if I started my meds again now?  TIA!

I was on that last pregnancy & it didn't work at all!!  So after my pregnancy my family dr put me on Prilosec.  Works wonders!!!

  • I think I told you this the last time you posted, but my ob was just fine with Prilosec my entire pregnancy. I'm not sure really what the reasoning is with no meds in the first tri, but I didn't have a choice. It was so worth it in the end.

  • I didn't get HB till I was about 28 weeks, but then I an Rx for Nexium. It worked wonderfully!! Ask the doctor about that.

  • Zantac is the safest - pregnancy class B.  I would actually feel very comfortable taking that at any point during pregnancy.

All of the PPIs (proton pump inhibitors = Nexium, Prilosec, etc) are pregnancy class C.  Used very commonly in pregnancy and considered safe.

  • I was allowed to take Zantac 75 mg 2 times a day. No other dose was allowed idkw. With my dd1 I refused meds and took papaya which worked great. However they stopped making the puree and nothing else worked during Morgan pregnacy.
