His sibling's mommy is going to be WILLIS!!!!
I sent the birth mom several profiles of couples in my city, and none of them felt like the perfect fit to her. Willis had mentioned that if she lived close she would be interested, so I contacted her. She and her DH are a very short plane flight away from us, and said they would be completely on board with regular visits between the kids. So we sent the birth mom their profile, and she loves them!!
It's bittersweet because of course we would love to adopt Logan's little brother or sister, but we're also thrilled that the baby will have an awesome family and will still be a part of our lives. Willis' son Connor is just a month older than Logan, so I think it's going to be a lot of fun for the kids to get together a few times a year. Plus, they live near Disney World, and there really isn't a better place for little kids to meet up for visits ![]()
Re: Found an awesome family to adopt Logan's sibling!
Woot, woot!
I wasn't sure if you were going to post or not, so I was waiting for your lead. I still can't imagine the rush of emotions it has been for you all.
It's been crazy in the Willis household tonight. I have been e-mailing or SW and local attorneys for recommendations. DH is researching the area and filling out forms. It's madness and I love it.
Did your families even know that a birth mom was considering you? Have you called your parents yet?
The whirlwind after getting matched is one of the many things I love so much about adoption. With pregnancy everything is so planned out and known (well, pretty much), but with adoption you don't know when it will happen, how much notice you'll have, what city you'll be in, etc. I just love the excitement of it all
The emotions are definitely weird, because I've never experienced being so excited but sad at the same time. I'm mostly excited because this situation is going to be a lot of fun for Logan. Kelly and I know this is the right thing.
This may sound really odd, but I think it will be easier for us when we see pictures and also meet the baby, and see that the baby isn't actually Logan. It's really hard to describe, but we love him so much and I think in our heads we're picturing that we're saying no to a baby that is practically his clone, and how could we possibly do that? I think it will be easier when we see that the baby is his or her own different person with a distinct personality. I hope that made some sense and doesn't sound nuts.
Have fun with all of the planning! I can't wait to meet you guys! Kelly and I are already talking about coming down in December. He covers college football, so he works most evenings and weekends through November.
I think it makes total sense and I understand where you are coming from. Not crazy at all.
No, our families had no idea. We have told Mike's side. We'll tell my side when I nail things down with the lawyer - it's much better that way
. The match via my internet friend would blow their mind. Short notice doesn't stop my mom from buying a plane ticket and showing up at the hospital anyway, lol.
BTW, DH googled your DH (how is that for creepy). He's a huge fan. Not of the school, but the particular publication
. DH is a Clemson fan, I'm a Gamecock and we're mutual Noles.
It's okay. I already googled you guys, and your husband was born 12 days before me, and you and I graduated from law school in the same year
Edited to clarify that your DH's birth date is in his work bio, so I'm not so creepy that I dug really deep to find that
So excited for both of you!! I can only imagine how comforting it is to know that Logan's sib will be in a home that you sort of know
This is one story the B MP would love to exploit! haha!
So happy for ya!

Took the words right out of my mouth! This is so awesome!
This is awesome, for both of you!
Go_Dawgs - I think it is great that you have such a good relationship with Logan's BM that you could send her profiles. That is a wonderful thing you did for both the BM and Willis.
