I'm thinking of doing a pirate themed room for the boys at my dad's house and I'm interested in any and all suggestions. My dad is moving back up to Fort Bragg (yay!) and since we'll finally have more space I'm looking forward to doing something special for the boys but since it's not their home bedroom I don't want to spend a fortune.
I really like the Pottery Barn Duvet Covers since they are more focused on pirate ships than just skull and crossbones, Andrew is fairly sensitive so sleeping with a bunch of skulls is out for him.
Other than PB I don't even really know where to look so even if you've got kid bedding site to share, thank you!
Re: Pirate Room Suggestions?
My boys are totally into pirate everything right now. Not sure if you saw them, but Mamabargains had some super cute pirate rainboots on sale (with matching rain coat and umbrella).
THIS room is beyond words. Amazing.
No suggestions but I hope you share what you come up with!! Fun.
THIS bedding is super cute.
That room is insane! I wonder how tall those ceilings are, yikes. Can you even imagine how much something like that must cost.
::off to look at bedding:::
I really like this bedding, and it would be super cute to do a mural on the wall with a beach, and then a pirate map. Between some stickers and paint I bet even I could pull that off, the boys would go crazy.

All good ideas, thank you! Love the toy box/treasure chest idea, I think that would be a huge hit. I've thought about going with plain and then accents which is what we did in Andrew's room at home but I had a really hard time finding a plain twin comforter for him and in the end it was still a little expensive (IMO). At home, we've got Dr. Suess theme, with PB sheets and then our own accents ect.
I guess it would then depend on how much you really want to spend on bedding. I did a quick Google search and this came up (hopefully the link works, otherwise it came up as PEM America Pirate something or other):

Kohls might have some good stuff too...I never usually find what I want theme-wise at BB&B so I just use them if I want solid colors.
Here's something from Target, too:

it's by Manhattan toy - I have one for Baz and he loves it. (It might be a little young, but I think it's darling.)
and I know these are party theme ideas, but maybe there's some decor in here you could use for inspiration?

I really love the Pirate! I guess it might now last them a long time at this age but they're both pretty good about not being "too old" ( I don't really know how else to say that
)
I can see now that site is going to be my time suck tonight! I'm so jealous of people who can pull of parties like that. I could do it pre-kids but now? No way!

I would also throw in some pictures...I googled this:

Maybe print and frame it...like a distressed dark wood frame or black frame that you sand down spots and add white and green to age and oceany wear kind of look.
I would also go for less kitch-y curtains and do some dark grommet style ones, perhaps over bamboo instead of regular curtain rods?

Just put a brass lock on it (or paint one on)

You can do framed stuff like that, or something too.

My first thought though was this quilt:

Then pair it with some dark sheets.
