Just Had Crazy Interaction (IF Related)

I was leaving work and looking for a cab. I work in midtown Manhattan and it can take forever to get a cab, so when I heard a guy tell a cabbie he was going a certain direction that was the same direction I needed to go, I asked if we could share. We were in the cab 10 seconds when the guy asked if I had a hard time getting pg. He was this skinny guy, early 30s, sweating like a fiend. I told him actually yes, it took 3 years. Next thing I know he's telling me about he and his wife's failed IVFs and asking me how many eggs we retrieved and if I had suggestions for relaxation and telling me he's blown away by how much this sucks and how upset his wife is. I gave him all the info I could in 20 blocks, we exchanged info, and I told him I'd email him some resources. Then he tried to pay for the whole cab ( didn't let him). Poor guy! Unbelievable though - it was nuts - this all went down literally in the space of 5 min!

wow! that is pretty crazy. Poor guy - sounds like he really needed to talk to someone about it. I'm glad you could offer him some info/advice.

What a sweet husband he sounds like. Hopefully your conversation helped him even if just a little. Crazy when 2 people's paths just happen to cross.

Wow, that's pretty cool, actually. Not cool that either of you has dealt with IF, but cool that two strangers can form a connection in a cab over it.

This is an awesome story. I'm sure you offered great comfort and resources to this guy - it's so nice to be able to connect with others. I have to say, NYC is crazy for happenstance meetings. Sometimes I'll meet someone and have a really meaningful conversation in line for coffee or something, sadly and more often than not, I'll stand on the subway for half an hour and no one even looks at me! Love to hear stories like this, it's so refreshing

That's actually really neat. It's cool that you were able to talk to him. He probably doesn't have anyone to talk to. I can imagine him going home and telling his wife all about you and renewing her hope! That's so cool.
