My neighbor keeps talking about how great the pricing is for diapers and wipes on Amazon. I assume they get free prime shipping and then I assume the subscribe and save 30% off. When I look at amazon, I see big boxes for the same price at BRU, and even with the subscribe and savediscount (which doesn't actually seem to be 30% off), it would be more than going to BRU and using a $5 coupon. So what am I missing? They keep talking about paying $18 for diapers. Is it just a smaller box? Does anyone get great deals at Amazon?
Re: Amazon/baby diaper costs, etc.
I just looked at my last order for each of my children. I buy Pampers Baby Dry and the Size 3 box of 222 diapers was $32.19 (14 cents per diaper) shipped and the Size 4 box of 192 diapers was 33.64 (16 cents per diaper) shipped. The Pampers Splashers SIze 5 (22 count) was 5.48 shipped. I really like the convenience. Almost always my order comes within 2 days and I don't have to run out to yet another store. I am certain combining sales and coupons might get you a better price, but for my time, Amazon offers amazing value.
This is what I most recently bought:
96 Count of Huggies Snug & Dry Size 3 - $16.48 - 17c/diaper
140 Count of Huggies Snug & Dry Size 4 - $23.51 - 17c/diaper
I don't know how much diapers are at BRU but for me, the convenience of buying diapers from Amazon is wonderful. Also, through Amazon Mom, I got 6 months of free Amazon prime on my email account and DH has earned an additional 12 months on his email account. I think Amazon prime is $80 per year so that has saved us $120. For every $25 you spend in the baby store, you get an extra month so that's how we earned the extra months.
I buy so much baby and non-baby stuff off Amazon now and with the free 2-day shipping, it is SO convenient. I save so much time from running errands and many times Amazon's prices are cheaper or as good as the stores.
I just read a blog post this morning talking about this very issue. This blogger also came to the conclusion that Amazon Mom is cheaper:

I agree with all the above PPs - Amazon Mom is the most convenient way to go.
when Amazon Mom first started, I did a big price comparison between Target, Diapers.com, Harris Teeter and Amazon. At the time Amazon was the clear winner with the lowest price per diaper. I haven't done a comparison since but the convenience of having the diapers shipped to my door each month without having to think about it would be worth me paying more :-)
eta: I buy Pampers...didn't research other brands.
Using Amazon Mom and subscribe & save, I paid $16.37 for an 84 pack of Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive NB, which works out to roughly $0.164 per diaper.
For Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive NB at BRU pack of 96, it is $29.99 not including state sales tax. Without the tax, that works out to $0.312 per diaper. If you had a $5 off coupon, that would bring it down to $0.26 per diaper plus state sales tax.
Plus the convenience factor of having them show up on your doorstep.
amazon is 30% off, 15% off for amazon.mom and another 15% for S&S. How much is a box at BRU? You've gotta look at the price per diaper. If you are buying a tiny bag at BRU, then $5off is probably a good deal, but if the box is $15 or more, than 30% off at amazon is a better deal (considering the prices are the same to start with). If you are talking BRU brand, they may in fact be cheaper but for pampers and huggies, amazon is cheaper.
I do not get wipes from amazon, though, I love COSTCO wipes
