mdo/preschool--How many hours week?

Dh and I are looking at a few mothers day out/ pre-school's for the twins starting in September (I know kind of late and I'm surprised there is a few openings)  There is one we both like but its M/W/F 9-2:30.  I'm worried that its too long for them.  Am I being over paranoid or do you think they will be just fine.

There is also another school that is T/Th from 8:45-11:45 and you have the option to do extended care till 3 as long as you give a days notice.  But then I'm worried its not enough.

The more I think about the M/W/F, I start to get more anxiety!

What would you do? TIA!

  • Paige started at 16 months and went Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30-2:30.  It was perfect.  They did music, snack time, recess, crafts, lunch, then nap.  When she woke from her nap, momma was there to pick her up.

She liked it so much, I added an extra day (Wednesday) for this fall.

I'll send my twins when they turn 16 months.

  • Jacob will be starting preschool in the fall.  He'll be going MWF from 9:15 to 12:15.  So, he'll be there 9 hours a week.

  • Henry goes to MDO two days a week for five hours. Next year we'll add a day. I think ten hours a week is perfect for us right now, but I'm sure he'd enjoy an extra day, as well. He loves  it there!

Thanks for responding! I never thought about the nap part which after nap I would be there to pick them up.  I'm excited but I guess I am just nervous! It will be a great break for me and them!  How are you feeling by the way?

  • DS is starting preschool this year and he will be going T/Th 9:15-11:15.  Since he wont be 3 by Sept 1, our only option was 2 days/wk unless I wanted to send him to daycare.  I'm fine with 2 days/wk at this point.  He'll be going to school all the time soon enough!

  • Everything here is 9-12....

Kira started preschool at 21 months two years ago, two days a week.  Last year (2 3/4 years - 3 1/2 years) and this coming year (3 3/4 - 4 1/2) she went and will be going 3 days a week.  I have my choice of 2, 3, or 5 days each year (and 4 days was an option until this coming year).

    Good luck!

  • We do day school on MTT from 9-1.  It is the perfect amount of time...she comes home and goes right down for a nap, and wakes up happy as a little clam.

  • Last year (started at 18 months) dd went one day a week from 930 until 3. She loved it. I think it was the perfect amount of time, and to start with 1 day was enough. By midyear I think she would have loved to go two days a week, which is what she'll be doing starting in September.

I think she longer hours were nice, because she gained some skills like eating lunch in a group, having nap time, etc. Also, it gave them time for chapel, music class, etc. which was great for her.
