Good afternoon ladies!!
Just a quick question for those of you who lift weights: Do you get funny looks at the gym? I've really started to notice this much more often. It's mainly from older people who probably think I'm hurting my baby or something! It's not like I'm over there pulling a 150 pound power clean or anything....LOL!
Going to the gym when DH gets home. Elliptical for 40 minutes and weights.
Re: ~~*Thursday Workout Check-in*~~
Hey!
Today I did the elliptical for 40 mins too, and lifted. I think the only reason I didn't get funny looks is because there were like 3 people in the gym, and it's at work- so there's not that much traffic.
Oh, hello there, workout check-in
We were on vacation for the last few weeks, where my workouts were super light (think walking and swimming). I got back into the swing of things yesterday with Lindsay Brin's Second Tri workout DVD -- I did cardio and toning. Since I worked out in my living room, I didn't receive any funny looks
Today I did cardio/toning again and added the yoga workout. As it turns out, I'm not that into prenatal (or any) yoga.
I have been lazy this week and feel pretty bad that I haven't done much. But not bad enough to go today. I'll get back on that train next week.
I do weights everytime I workout. I haven't really noticed any looks, but I haven't been paying attention. I'll check it out next time and see if I'm getting some stares. If I notice them, I'll just imagine they're starting at my glowing belly beauty. ha ha.
I took a one hour walk and lifted 5 lb. weights with my arms.
Usually when I lift weights it's just using some 5 lbs ones I have at home, but I have lifted at the gym and didn't notice any funny looks. I wasn't paying attention though.
I worked out for 30 minutes on the eliptical machine.
I don't think I get weird looks for being pregnant and lifting weights. I think it is more like - "boy is she dogging it" weird looks. I wear yoga pants and a baggy shirt to my weight lifting class, so only the instructor and a few people in class know I am pregnant yet. I make modifications to a lot of the more difficult moves (step ups on the chair - I do step ups on the bench; I don't do super men or bananas; I don't jump; etc.) As I get further along a few of the regulars are catching on, but I confuse the newbies yet. There have been a few newbies in class that have followed my lead through my modifications, some have even reclined their bench for shoulder presses and such. It makes me giggle a little.
back on the workout band-wagon after a week of CRAZY. walked for 45 min this morning then walked to the playground and back with DD this afternoon.
i'm not frequenting the gym much this time around but with DD i was a member of the YMCA and i did get some weird looks, but also some people that really encouraged me!
Haha! For sure! My DH is the one that noticed it, so now I see it all the time! Oh well.
Hi there! I hope you don't mind me jumping on the workout bandwagon.
We took an hour walk with the dog, my arm weights (all of 5lbs each), and didn't get to the pool today, so tonight a to do this new Pregnancy Cardio/Core DVD. We will see if it is any good.
Thanks!
Ran 2 miles this morning which felt good as I actually ran outside- amazing how much better an outside run feels than on the treadmill.
I don't get looks now as I workout at home, but with DS I got lots of looks especially as I worked out until 41 weeks when I went into labor, and was wearing fitted tank tops since it was hot. I actually thought it was amusing and made me work out longer usually.
That sucks. I hope it gets better soon!
